Defender Trophy Competition
Defender launches its global adventure competition, Defender Trophy – an epic expedition based on collaboration and conservation – alongside a celebratory Defender 110 Trophy Edition.
Adventure is having a renaissance. Across industries, luxury brands are catering to affluent consumers who crave experiences, participation and purpose. The launch of the Defender Trophy competition is perhaps the surest sign yet that we’re entering a new ‘expedition age’.
Since the original Land Rover arrived in 1948, the vehicle has been synonymous with exploration in some of the world’s most remote and demanding environments. Nowhere was this better seen than during the famed Camel Trophy era between 1980 and 2000 – often described as the Olympics of 4×4 – where amateur competitors navigated jungles, deserts and tundras in locations as far-flung as Borneo, Siberia and Mongolia, all in iconic yellow Land Rovers.
Paying homage to these legendary events, the new Defender Trophy revives that spirit of adventure while putting a contemporary spin on it. Participants from more than 50 countries will compete in local and national qualifying rounds before advancing to the final in Africa in 2026. The event turns tough challenges, ingenuity and teamwork into a truly global experience, made to create a lasting impact and reach new audiences around the world.
Designed and engineered in the UK, Defender is built on more than 75 years of world-leading off-road capability. As Mark Cameron, managing director of Defender, explains, “Global adventure and community have been the fabric of the Defender brand’s DNA for decades… Our unique new global adventure challenge will bring nations together, as competitors co-operate to navigate tough terrain, conquer extreme physical challenges and solve tactical tests – all united by a greater purpose.”
That purpose is conservation. The final will be hosted alongside Defender’s long-term conservation partner, Tusk, a non-profit that has had an incredible impact on wildlife and habitat conservation in Africa through community-led programs over the past 35 years.
Celebrating the return of the Trophy is the new Defender 110 Trophy Edition, a special model designed to capture the heart of the event. Available in two classic colours – Deep Sandglow Yellow and Keswick Green – the vehicle draws directly from Defender’s heritage while introducing contemporary specifications for modern explorers.
The Trophy Edition features a contrasting gloss black finish on the bonnet, lower bodyside, brake calipers and rear recovery eyes. Its gloss black 20-inch alloy wheels are fitted with rugged all-terrain tyres, while a black front undershield, dark rear scuff plate and wheelarch protection showcase its off-road credentials.
Inside, ebony Windsor leather seats combine durability with luxury. The exposed cross-car beam is colour-matched to the exterior and features laser-etched Trophy details. For serious off-roading, owners can fit optional accessories including an expedition roof rack, deployable roof ladder, side-mounted gear carrier, classic front and rear mud flaps and raised air intake for improved dust filtration.
The Defender Trophy ultimately reflects a broader shift in luxury culture. By bringing together heritage, capability and conservation, Defender is offering participation in a modern expedition story that speaks to a new generation looking for experiences that make a difference.
