Designer Elliat Rich cemented herself on the global design stage in 2017 when hersculptural vanity, ‘Place’, won the Australian Furniture Design Award. Three years on, and a transformative design journey later, Elliat is proud to introduce her latest collection, Different Thoughts, for Stylecraft.

Comprising of a credenza, floor light and rug, the Different Thoughts collection is a true triumph in the combination of quality craftsmanship and timeless design. When asked on her inspiration behind the range, Elliat spoke to the pieces as being “an inquiry into boundaries of time and matter and what connects one being to another. Conceived in an alchemy of functionality and narrative, and delivered with generosity and wonder, the collection invites us to be curious, break the rules, and to think critically about our relationships.”

Comprising of a credenza, floor light and rug, the Different Thoughts collection is a true triumph in the combination of quality craftsmanship and timeless design.

Based in Alice Springs, Elliat uses the rich culture that surrounds her to provide inspiration for work across a broad spectrum of design, including art and furniture, product development, exhibition design and limited edition objects. Elliat’s distinct design aesthetic stems from a truly unique process that fuses a creative translation between materials anculture, alive to a broader context of powe and social value, whilst always calling on the infinite possibilities of the human imagination. Testament to this context, Elliat’s work aligns with an ethical imperative to increase equality between people and across species, now and into the future.

It was Elliat’s truly unique approach to design that allowed her to seamlessly develop the Different Thoughts range for commercial production. All three pieces feature striking organic forms and distinctive finish combinations. The credenza, The Other is More Same Than Different, is comprised of a harmonious body, fusing the natural form with an elegant integration of lightness and utility. The rug, Our Edges Are Mist, is defined by elemental shapes and colour, developing a feeling of wonderful discovery resulting from the combination of texture and patterns that can be seen throughout the design. Completing the collection, the floor light, The Moment Always Passes, is both sculptural and graceful, featuring a texturised glass profile draped atop a tubular frame.

Available exclusively through Stylecraft, Different Thoughts encourages an altered level of consciousness as we celebrate an undoubtedly unique approach to Australian design. Elliat’s distinctive design aesthetic truly shines through in this commercial collection, with the organic forms and unique finish combinations present in all three pieces facilitating a changing perspective on design.
