Ebonex Australia needed an office that, like the crypto trading platform itself, went beyond the norm – one that matched up to its innovative point of view while empowering the young team to diversify their workspaces. Sydney interior design studio Tom Mark Henry responded with a comfortable yet vibrant working space for the entire team.

Ebonex Australia’s office sits at one of the most desirable addresses in Sydney’s CBD, overlooking the harbour. It is these views that became the backdrop to the interior. This is an office that prioritises privacy and connection in equal measure. The open plan design with welcoming entry lounge, open meeting spaces and bar encourages collaboration, while enclosed meeting spaces allow for privacy when needed.

The views of the harbour are optimised at every point, connecting the office with its surroundings and allowing natural light to flow through the space, creating a fresh atmosphere.

The views of the harbour are optimised at every point, connecting the office with its surroundings and allowing natural light to flow through the space, creating a fresh atmosphere. Executives’ offices are northfacing to make the most of those views, while a recording studio, meeting rooms and a mothers’ room sit against the core – fully catering to every employee and visitor’s needs.

The curve of the office building was the inspiration for the design. It is seen in the fan-shaped floor plate, the smooth curvaceous armchairs and sofas in the waiting area and in the wall sconces that emit a subtle glow. Colours come in the form of muted pinks and blues, reflecting the brand colours of Ebonex Australia, with marble, terrazzo and quartzite adding a rich materiality throughout all the spaces. Satin chrome and brass touches to cabinetry and doors add elements of elegance.

Gone are the harsh overhead lights of old, and in their place are linear pendants and ceramic wall lights that accentuate the curves and colours of the space.

Clever touches include beige-coloured acoustic baffles in the entrance that allows for privacy in a creative way, adding to the interior design rather than detracting from it. Lighting plays an important role throughout the office too; gone are the harsh overhead lights of old, and in their place are linear pendants and ceramic wall lights that accentuate the curves and colours of the space.

The team at Tom Mark Henry have created a new kind of office for a new kind of company; minimalist to not be distracting or gimmicky, brand aligned without being obvious and considerate of the needs of its employees at every point.
