Dulux Colour Awards 2024 – Entries Now Open
Returning for its 38th year, the Dulux Colour Awards honour the innovative ways colour has been used in residential, commercial and public spaces.
Entries are now open for the 38th Dulux Colour Awards. Celebrating the versatility and impact of colour, the awards invite architects, interior designers, specifiers and students from Australia and New Zealand to submit projects that have used colour in innovative and commendable ways. The awards will look at the use of colour across exterior and interior residential projects (including multi-residential), public and commercial spaces, and temporary or installation experiences. Past winners include Alma Road Residence by studiofour and Darebin Intercultural Centre by Sibling Architecture.
The judging panel will consist of some of Australia and New Zealand’s most prolific architects and designers. This year’s panel comprises Shaun Carter, founder of Carter Williamson, Monique Woodward, co-founder of WOWOWA Architecture, Sarosh Mulla, director of Pac Studio, Eva-Marie Prineas, founder of Studio Prineas, and the co-founder and director of Technē Architecture + Interior Design, Nick Travers. They join long-time judge Andrea Lucena-Orr, DuluxGroup’s colour and communications manager.
“The Dulux Colour Awards celebrate the creativity of design practitioners who use colour to transform spaces,” Andrea says. “In 2024, we’re excited to further this celebration with the introduction of the new Temporary or Installation Design category, which aims to showcase the use of paint finishes in temporary, installation, exhibition and brand promotional experiences.”
Entries are open until 23 February 2024 and, to be considered, projects must have been completed between 1 September 2022 and 31 December 2023 and not have been previously entered. Winners of each category will receive prize money and all finalists will have the opportunity to be judged for the prestigious Australian Grand Prix and New Zealand Grand Prix titles. Last year’s Grand Prix winners were Sibling Architecture for the Darebin project (Australia) and Shand Shelton for the St James Theatre in Wellington (New Zealand).
The annual awards highlight the power of colour and recognise design talent in Australia and New Zealand. Finalists will be announced on 21 March and winners will be named at the 38th Dulux Colour Awards on 29 May. Further information here.
