Emerging gracefully from a surrounding thicket of native bushland, Lake Rotoiti House fosters connection between the built form and its lakeside setting, as well as with inhabitants and community members passing by the property. Articulated with an assured ease, the home reveals a seamless integration of ideation amongst its party of creators.

Built by Insight Carpentry with landscape design by Flora and Form Landscapes, an existence is crafted that communes reverently with the natural world whilst palpably standing as a distinct presence. Informing the architecture as well as Source and Style’s interior design and styling, the wilderness surrounding Lake Rotoiti House is reflected in the textures and palette expressed in the building. Artiste Refined Van Gogh engineered timber encapsulates the volume with striking floor and ceiling boards that echo the stories of the outside bush within its walls.

A depth in the smoke-darkened wood and its whisper of white-washed grain lends an inimitable organic decadence. As the floor and ceiling embrace the forested environment warmly and naturally, a melding into living alongside the landscape is felt. Approaching the concept with an exacting eye, the key to Forté’s captivating delivery lies within the company’s intimate knowledge for providing unique timber solutions that are as enduring as they are evocative and functional.

With the home’s design feeling precisely aligned throughout all elements, the material success of Lake Rotoiti House is manifested through the attention Forté takes to build projects from the ground up. This is carried out not only physically through its discerning selection of timber surfaces but also personally in cultivating close and productive partnerships with architects and designers to produce outcomes born of genuine and curious collaboration.
