Redefining Self-Care – Frank Body HQ by Made For
Inspired by the individuality of Frank Body, Made For has designed a new head office for the personal care brand with an interior scheme titled ‘A Fistful of Self-Care’. With its uplifting atmosphere, the space embodies the youthful spirit of the Australian company.
Formerly a warehouse, the Frank Body HQ headquarters is located in the Melbourne suburb of Cremorne, a rapidly growing hub for innovatively-minded businesses. With a distinctly informal character, the design of the HQ references familiar motifs associated with social media whilst strongly engaging with the Frank Body DNA: “Frank is all about making its customers feel good with simple, effective and accessible products that make self-care fun,” explains Cara Stizza, Founder and Design Director of Made For. “We wanted to capture that same bold, fun feel for their new HQ while ensuring the space was extremely functional and joyful to use.”
‘A Fistful of Self-Care’ is an elegant interior scheme with a harmonious interplay of contrasting textures, colours, shapes and patterns. Frank Body’s signature salmon pink is openly explored, paired with the punctuating colours of deep burgundy, mistletoe green and navy blue in different geometric formats. Offsetting the vibrant display of colour are the grounding materials of terrazzo, timber and hard-wearing stainless steel. Whilst the juxtaposing features of the HQ establish a dynamic working environment where personality is celebrated, they also speak to the potential of Frank Body to pursue different creative avenues as it continues to develop.
Here, aesthetic features enable functionality and connection. “Made For understood that our office is more than a place we come to work every day. It’s a home-away-from-home for over 50 people, and the details matter,” says Jess Hatzis, Co-Founder of Frank Body. Allowing employees both privacy and the opportunity to socialise, Made For created zones of activity using not only interior décor – such as a bespoke mural by local artist Bobby Clark – but also structural features like the glass dividing panels in colourful frames. Warm and purposefully practical, the office presents a combination of vintage-inspired details and key amenities, including a black and white checkerboard floor and a vibrant kitchen reminiscent of retro interiors. Throughout the project, Made For has committed to sustainable production practices, using pre-existing plumbing locations and internal walls, as well as vintage and recycled furniture.
