New VeniceM Collections
Italian lighting studio VeniceM fuses Venetian craft with contemporary innovation in three new collections, available exclusively in Australia through Gineico.
Founded in 2013 by Melissa Lunardi and Massimo Tonetto, VeniceM has quickly established itself as one of Italy’s most refined makers of luxury lighting. Named for the historic city where the company is based, VeniceM’s three most recent collections – the Augusta, Beak and a new Doma Suspension light – are characterised by their clean, minimal designs, finely wrought materials and traditional Venetian craftsmanship.
This meeting of artisanal processes and elevated design is what makes VeniceM a perfect match for much-lauded Australian lighting supplier Gineico. “What sets the brand apart is that its fittings are not just lighting – they’re authentic statement pieces of impeccable detail and quality,” says Pierluigi Gambacorti, Gineico’s director. “The Beak, Augusta and Doma collections deliver sculptural beauty with meticulous detail that resonates deeply with Australian architecture.”
The studio draws on the centuries-old heritage of Murano glassmaking with a contemporary twist, updating it with pared-back geometries and sleek, luxurious metal finishes. For instance, the Augusta collection – available in both floor and pendant versions – features a slender stem of dark, burnished brass with vertically grooved detailing. This form leads into a shade of Murano glass in bronze or smoke-grey, with a rippled texture that casts a gentle, diffuse light. The elegance and timelessness of the Augusta collection allow it to feel at home in both sophisticated residences as well as refined commercial settings.
Versatile and compact, the Beak collection includes ceiling, wall, suspension, floor and table lighting – each variant defined by a smooth, burnished brass finish and a knurled cylindrical head that gives the collection its name. This adjustable head allows for precise control, while the textured detailing adds a subtle tactility. Offered in both light and dark solid brass and bronze, these are fittings designed for spaces that require clarity and focus, with the flexibility to suit everything from luxurious living areas to high-end boutiques.
Meanwhile, the Doma Suspension 1 introduces a new member to the existing Doma family – a single pendant with the same domed signature as the chandelier, wall, table and floor formats. Centred on the interplay between weight and transparency, a bell of Murano glass appears to hover in mid-air around a central brass stem. The light is indirect and atmospheric, diffused through the curved glass surface in hues of antique white, antique pink, green, blue or smoke-grey. A beautiful statement piece, the Doma Suspension 1 shines both on its own or in delicate clusters.
Crafted in marine-grade brass and bronze, the collections are well suited to the challenging Australian environment and can be used in both indoor and outdoor settings. “Our coastal lifestyle demands pieces that are not only functional but also enduring, and VeniceM’s new collections answer that need,” says Gambacorti. The sculptural lights also complement Australian architecture at the highest level. “They are a natural fit for award-winning luxury homes. These fittings don’t just illuminate spaces – they elevate them from ‘same-same’ to wow.”
As with all Gineico collections, the focus remains on authentic design, integrity of materials and Italian craftsmanship. “Working with Melissa and Massimo has always been inspiring, and with the Beak, Augusta and Doma collections, VeniceM has again proven that Venetian artistry and authentic design are an unbeatable combination.”
