A Crackling of Light – Glass Pendants by ADesignStudio

In the coming together of art and technology, ADesignStudio has released a curated selection of pendant lights that celebrate the specialist technique of glass blowing. Exploring new ways to harness light, the three new light collections – Eon Sans, Greenway and the collaborated Alchemy capsule – offer calming and subtle illuminance to interior spaces.

Incorporating his background in industrial design, ADesignStudio Founding Director Alex Fitzpatrick celebrates light through craft with the studio’s newest collections. Eon Sans, Greenway and the Alchemy capsule – which was designed in collaboration with Australian interior stylist and designer SARAH ELLISON. – showcase the ways that light can be celebrated, seeing each pendant push traditional lighting boundaries. Debuting in a wide range of sizes and shapes, the collections are infused with an energetic and inspirational glow, reflected throughout each space they occupy.

Demanding notice, each Eon Sans pendant showcases handblown glasswork in its rawest form. With unique characteristics and sculpted in four different sizes, Eon Sans has been designed with a crackled pattern, featuring distinctive colours and finishes. Each pendant emits gentle hues through its fitted LED lighting, seeing the crackle globe cast shards of mesmerising light upon surrounding surfaces. Extending the range further is Eon S; whilst the crackle appearance is near identical to the Eon Sans, the Eon S has been enclosed within a triangular metal frame that enhances the arrangement of light.

Inspired by Australia’s oldest lighthouse, Macquarie Lightstation, ADesignStudio’s Greenway collection is a timeless take on an influential landmark. Diffusing light through both clear and crackle-glass options, the Greenway lighting system is made from a metal fitting that disguises the light source. Whilst the crackled option offers a warming ambience similar to its sister lights, it is the three-dimensional printed perforated lattice within that truly marks this piece as one of a kind. Diffusing light through the handblown glass, the lantern-like shape instils a timeless and contemporary hue within interior spaces.

Collaborating with SARAH ELLISON., the Alchemy Collection features an enlarged pebble-shaped light that celebrates experimentation of form, silhouette and mood. With multiple options available that encompass pendants, table lamps and wall lights, the opaque glow emerges from within the double-walled glass and instinctively permeates each room with a sense of poise.

Transforming the simplest of spaces through the artform of handblown glass, ADesignStudio’s Eon Sans, Greenway and Alchemy explore new ways people can experience light. Whilst the designs are inspired by creative energy and the power of harnessing light, it is the unique crackled pattern and handblown forms that enthuse new energy within each piece.
