As the weather grows warmer, GlobeWest announces the arrival of Outdoor Collections 2021, with four new ranges and 50 new designs inspired by nature that are conceived to fully embrace and enhance the Australian outdoor lifestyle.

Throughout the collections, calm neutral tones are combined with an earthier palette to create a sense of harmony with the natural environment. Soft-touch fabrics and supportive upholstery bring comfort to spending time outdoors, while materials such as timber and woven resin and rope details add textural interest.

Cali and Cannes are two of the new collections by GlobeWest. GlobeWest Head of Creative Keti Lytras and Designer Vanessa Chidgey pictured in the studio.

Following the many challenges of 2020, the Globewest design team were “determined to deliver mood-boosting pieces for Australians and celebrate the freedom and exhalation that comes from outdoor living,” says GlobeWest Head of Creative Keti Lytras. “Our latest collection draws on the calming effects of nature’s tones from moss green and warming touches of terracotta which is brought through in our living and dining pieces, as well as even more natural timbers that create a sense of rural escapism.”

Keti explains that the design process always begins with a deep consideration of both Australian life and architecture. “Our social, cultural and technological environments both globally and locally are constantly shifting and become a key consideration when designing new collections. These all impact our needs and wants for our homes and commercial spaces.” When it comes to designing any collection, five core architectural styles are kept in mind: contemporary, modern, classic, eclectic and retreat. “It’s a huge undertaking to offer this level of choice but it’s a labour of love for the entire Design and Product Development team,” she says.

The GlobeWest Design and Development team begin designing each collection by considering Australian lifestyle and architecture.

The four new ranges added with the release of Outdoor Collections 2021 reflect this emphasis on design diversity, as well as GlobeWest’s commitment to quality and longevity. All pieces are designed to withstand Australia’s harsh climatic conditions, Keti explains. “Our intent is always to ensure our furniture designs have longevity – pieces that will be loved forever!”

Cali is a round table collection that is both contemporary and relaxed, featuring slatted inset teak tops combined with sleek powder-coated metal frames. Meanwhile, Wilomena is a new sofa range that blends a solid teak frame with comfortable, generous sunproof cushions. This range exemplifies how “we’ve also made great headway in less visible elements – our outdoor sofa and chair cushioning has been enhanced considerably; comfort is everything for long summer days outdoors,” Keti says.

The new collections offer a range of tones and textures that harmonise with the natural environment while providing comfort and support.

Cannes evokes the rustic sundecks of the French Riviera, with curvaceous tables and plush sofas with rope detailing, sun-proof upholstery and quick-dry cushions designed to make relaxing poolside even more enjoyable. Normandy also looks to France for inspiration, offering a contemporary take on provincial French flair. With subtle turned timber contours, luxurious forms and subtle open weaves it is described as a light and timeless approach to outdoor furniture.

Along with these entirely new collections, there are additions to existing ranges, which Keti says means Outdoor Collections 2021 feels like both an extension of the GlobeWest offering and also a big move in a new direction. “The four new collections feel really fresh and a significant move forward,” she says. “We’ve explored a youthful take on mixed materials and a contemporary twist on classic shapes [but] we also continue to evolve popular ranges.”
