Life in Colour – GlobeWest Launches Collections 2023 Volume 2
Since 2004, GlobeWest has continually evolved its furniture and homeware collections to meet the changing needs of designers and design connoisseurs. The Melbourne-based furniture and homeware brand’s portfolio spans a spectrum of aesthetics, from contemporary and modern to classic, eclectic and retreat. Its latest launch, the Collections 2023 Volume 2, reimagines its signature range in new shapes, colours and forms.
In March 2023, GlobeWest unveiled Volume Two, the evolution of its 2023 Collection. The collection is defined by bold colours, nested and rounded forms, organic shapes, luxurious marbles and contemporary silhouettes. The designs are in keeping with GlobeWest’s evolving trend forecasts for 2023, which signal a creative renaissance across art, travel and architecture in Australia. The collection is underpinned by four prevalent ‘Design Directions’ – christened ‘A Fresh Start’, ‘Sea Change’, Life in Colour’ and ‘Common Ground’ – inspired by contemporary, retreat, eclectic and modern aesthetics, respectively, and created for designers and designers-at-heart.
‘A Fresh Start’ reinterprets midcentury architecture and design in a playful way, with pillar legs, chunky silhouettes and warm, moody palettes like Honey, Saltbush, Desert Speckle and Laurel. This trend places renewed emphasis on nested and rounded forms and luxury marbles, as evidenced by the Floyd Dining Table, a clean-lined and contemporary reinterpretation of midcentury modern design. Suspended casing and plinth legs channel a sculptural flair, while serving to underpin a statement marble top. Equally, the Chloe Channel collection is an object lesson in contrasts, with artistic joinery, waterfall edges and offsetting linear channel doors that serve as counterpoints to each other. Designs are modular, conceived to work together or independently, to suit the occasion.
Sea Change’ is a trend born out of the wonders of overseas travel, where the warm sun and sea breeze serve as ever faithful companions. Coastal influences find sophisticated expression in GlobeWest’s new retreat-inspired Freya, Porto and Dune ranges, reminiscent of the cinnamon dunes of Morocco. “We’re soothing our senses with luxurious upholstery, oversized seating and long-lasting comfort,” says GlobeWest Head of Creative Keti Lytras.
The Freya range channels a meditative presence with natural hues, rounded corners and contemporary rattan details. Meanwhile, the Dune coffee and side tables straddle the indoor-outdoor continuum with equal elan, with fluid profiles and textured finishes that make them ideal on either side of the threshold. The concept of mixed mediums is carried forward by the all-new Porto range, where hand-made tile inlay and natural oak take equal pride of place.
Colour is a leitmotif across GlobeWest’s new collection, and ‘Life in Colour’ promises plenty of sensorial surprises with its statement silhouettes and rich new colours such as Plum Speckle, Spiced Orange and Cognac offering playful twists. “We are seeing unbridled creativity, uplifting tones and textures, and playfulness and versatility. We are sensing individuality come into play, both in the way we design our products and the way our customers are using them,” says Keti of the eclectic-inspired range. The bestselling Jenson Occasional Chair and Cyrus Occasional Chair and the Kennedy and Sophie ottomans are brought to life in this new palette, while the Felix Loop Sofa in Spiced Orange is an adventurous departure from the norm.
‘Common Ground’ evokes comfort, joy and connection among designers and homeowners alike. Embodied by modern clean lines, bold shapes, grounding silhouettes and a focus on functionality, the trend takes form in the Noa, Juno Channel and Leon ranges. Moss, mule and chocolate tones serve as a connection across the three.
GlobeWest’s new outdoor ranges parlay the brand’s expertise into robust and resilient weather-resistant designs. The new Kuda and Javea ranges, for example, are an ode to outdoor luxury. Designed in solid teak, the former features pillar legs and playful details, while the latter is mid-century-inspired, with plush cushioning and Sunproof premium upholstery. Likewise, the Hardy range’s low-lying silhouettes and masculine aesthetic are enhanced by its long-lasting nature, made possible by structured Quick Dry Foam and Dacron fill cushioning.
GlobeWest’s commitment to comfort and design-forward approach are on full display with Collections 2023 Volume 2. Building upon years of experience designing for designers and design lovers, with this latest offering GlobeWest continues to provide connections, comfort and joy.
