Living Edge CEO Aidan Mawhinney has curated a selection of favourites that speak to the brand’s commitment on delivering authentic, statement and timeless design.

“It’s a difficult task,” Aidan says when musing over the reasoning behind his selection. Factored in were important elements such as functional quality, the excellence of craftmanship and products that transcend space and intention. The final six pieces reflect Living Edge’s purposeful curation of products from established brands, where considered and exceptional design is expected and surpassed.

Radiofonografo by Brionvega is a blend of sound, style and charisma; its retro design speaks to the modern industrial era. The Italian brand Brionvega produces avant-garde cult products that combine aesthetics with easy-to-use technology. “Brionvega’s Radiofonografo is an absolute classic,” Aidan says. “Designed in 1965, this sound system fills up any space with great sound.” The original RR126 Radiofonografo was created by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, with the updated model is available in four distinct finishes to suit a range of interior palettes.

Cactus by Gufram challenges the line between interior and exterior. Interpreted as either a functional or simply decorative piece, Cactus captures a freedom of design reminiscent of its time. “Gufram’s Cactus is a true design icon. Whilst playful in nature, it acts as a sculptural coatrack,” says Aidan, “but let’s face it, it’s just an amazing piece of art to have in any space!” PER/USE’s Piano Coat Rack conjures up a similar playful interpretation of design. The versatile piece was originally created in 2010 by Patrick Séha “and can be used as a coat, towel or shoe or bag rack,” Aidan explains. The Belgian brand’s sleek, functional and contemporary design additionally offers itself to a wider range of interiors.

All six products have their freight emissions offset to ensure they comply with Living Edge’s sustainability program, Living On.

The Rockstar Bar, handmade from solid American walnut, stands as an elevated furnishing. “We all need somewhere to display those evening favourites and with a side lit, a quilted silk back panel and soft-close doors, the bar is sure to elevate any living space.” The piece comes from London brand Buster + Punch and reflects the brand’s passion for crafted details and extraordinary design.

“Herman Miller’s Eames Moulded Screen is very much a functional piece,” says Aidan, “able to separate spaces, create private enclaves for reading or relaxing, and is sculpturally prominent adding an enhanced aesthetic to any space.” The screen was first produced in the 1940s and, as a modern divider, adds an element of privacy to any space without compromising on design.

Flos, established in 1962, provides innovative and pioneering lighting solutions. Toio Floor Lamp is just one of their iconic designs, designed for Flos by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni. “Inspired by a car’s head lamp – the simplicity! – it is equal parts playful and industrial and has rightly earned its place in the permanent collection of MOMA in New York.” The experimental industrial aesthetic is perfectly featured as a detailed aspect of any interior.

Living Edge pledges that 100% of its products are driven by the need to protect the environment, and this selection is no different. All six products have their freight emissions offset to ensure they comply with Living Edge’s sustainability program, Living On.
