James Hardie – Hardie™ Fine Texture Cladding Wins Good Design Award
James Hardie’s latest product, Hardie™ Fine Texture Cladding, has been recognised for its innovation and ingenuity, receiving the Good Design Award in the Product Design: Hardware and Building Category.
Hardie™ Fine Texture Cladding is an Australian-made pre-textured fibre cement cladding. Largely comprised of cement, sand, water and cellulose fibre, the panels are intended to be lightweight and easy to handle. The 1,200-millimetre-wide panels are available in common wall heights up to 3,600 millimetres, offering a fine textured render look at a more accessible price point with lower maintenance demands than traditional rendered options. Developed with a focus on product simplicity and installation methodology, the easy-to-install panels, which connect via shiplap joints, allow builders to deliver a sleek appearance without render. This saves time, labour and the need for specialist trades on residential building sites.
Designed for full-wrap or composite façade construction, on either timber or steel-framed homes, the cladding allows for a smaller footprint than traditional brick designs. Hardie™ Fine Texture Cladding can be applied to suit a wide range of architectural briefs, with varying aesthetic outcomes. Accompanying the panels are a suite of architect-designed accessories that enable seamless, detailed finishes on horizontal joints and corners. Unanimous across every Hardie™ Fine Texture Clad project is the product’s signature light-diffusing, matte finish. This surface comes pre-primed and ready-to-paint offering flexibility.
Along with its user-friendly and design-focused credentials, Hardie™ Fine Texture Cladding has been developed with sustainability in mind. The panels have been designed for longevity, meaning they require less maintenance over time. The panels are non-combustible (meeting bushfire attack level requirements to BAL40), resistant to water and termite damage, as well as rotting and warping. They can withstand exposure to extreme heat, moisture, UV radiation and snowstorms, offering durability in a rapidly changing and increasingly unpredictable climate.
Recognised for its ease of installation and aesthetic and conceptual potential at the Good Design Awards, Hardie™ Fine Texture Cladding seeks to offer an accessible, high-quality and user-friendly material that enables versatile and expansive architecture.
