Hunters Hill Residence is an uplifted Federation-era home that retains its ornate heritage detailing whilst emphasising a contemporary and muted sensibility throughout. POCO Designs fuses the old and new through a thoughtful celebration of both, animating details and incorporating curious moments that reflect the personalities of the occupants.

Located within its namesake suburb, Hunters Hill Residence continues the original character of the home through an emphasis on crafted and artisanal touches. Although the original home featured an internal separation of rooms – a characteristic of its Federation-era origins – opening the home’s interior allowed for free-flowing movement and became key to how the home both felt and functioned. Whilst the original exterior and its cladding remains, the interior becomes the focus of the reworking. The spaces are re-imagined, ensuring a connection between the rooms and to the surrounding landscape. POCO Designs draws from the existing charm of the home in proposing its next fruitful chapter.

Hunters Hill Residence blends the home’s heritage design with a contemporary need for openness and function. Ample storage is integrated to support the everyday, whilst the home’s original grandeur is felt through the retained proportions and ceiling heights. To the rear, the connected living, dining and kitchen spaces convene, becoming the stage for socialisation and offering a feeling of immersion within the surrounds of the encasing garden.

A modernist touch ensures a relationship to the past is felt throughout – a unique charm binds the home’s eras through small, nuanced gestures. The controlled and curated use of colour is applied with a sense of purpose, connecting each space with a cohesive colour story. Whilst a base palette connects the old and new volumes, herringbone timber flooring adds movement and the insertion of greens and deeper warm tones brings a natural sensibility.

An elevation of its original stylings, Hunters Hill Residence adopts a considered approach that speaks to the past, present and future. POCO Designs emphasises a crafted feel and, together with new insertions, creates a home that is distinctly calming to disconnect from the urban streetscape.
