Becoming a Certified B Corporation is no small feat. Beginning the in-depth process back in early 2021, and as part of a commitment to ethical and sustainable business, IN BED has officially announced the company’s B Corp Certification. With a steadfast commitment to being refreshingly transparent with its customers, IN BED is truly using its business as a force for good.

There are three key criteria a business must meet to have the privilege of using the B Corp logo: Performance, Transparency and Accountability. Put simply, B Corp Certification puts a company’s entire social and environmental impact under the microscope. It is a designation that a business is meeting the high standards of verified performance, accountability and transparency – something that IN BED Founder Pip Vassett has always aspired to. “We’ve always looked up to businesses that attain B Corp accreditation and feel proud to join an alumni of some of the world’s most socially and environmentally conscious brands,” says Pip. “For IN BED, being part of this network challenges us to stay accountable to our customers, our team, our communities and our planet.”

As well as their commitment to the environment, IN BED’s commitment to being a socially responsible business continues to grow too.

After a careful review process by B Lab, which took over a year to complete, the IN BED team decided to undertake the challenge as a way to hold themselves even more accountable. Being certified would mean their current impact would be measured, and it would mean new structures would be put in place to ensure IN BED’s growth would be in the most sustainable, transparent and ethical way possible. It means the business can ensure it is led first and foremost by purpose, impacting those who work for the company and similarly those who encounter it. “For us, becoming B Corp Certified felt like a way of legitimising the work we were already doing around impact and sustainability,” Pip explains. “It also provides us with a rigorous framework to help plan and measure the various activities we engage in as a purpose driven business.”

IN BED has been practising transparent business since it was founded, creating timeless bedding, sleepwear and homeware products in a responsible and respectful way. Sourced from all over the world using only the highest quality and natural materials, IN BED works with a small number of trusted suppliers both at home and internationally. As well as their commitment to the environment, IN BED’s commitment to being a socially responsible business continues to grow too.

The B Corp process is a rigorous test of a business’s social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability – something IN BED has been practising since it launched back in 2013.

Providing bedding sets for shelters, as well as monthly donations to Women’s Community Shelter – an Australian charity that works to support vulnerable women and children in need – IN BED also donates monthly to the Pay The Rent initiative in support of First Nations people. Additionally, the business is part of Pledge 1%, which provides a framework for companies to give philanthropically.

The B Corp process is a rigorous test of a business’s social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability – something IN BED has been practising since it launched back in 2013. Fostering that same sense of openness and trust, the certification is a way to give their customers the confidence that they are investing in a product and business that is truly sustainable whilst putting people and the planet first. A business that truly cares.
