Exemplifying the overt vibrancy for which the luggage brand is known, the July store in Melbourne’s Chadstone – created by retail design wunderkinds In Addition – offers a unique and immersive customer experience.

Drawing inspiration from the allure and sophistication of luxury travel, every detail in July’s Chadstone store is infused with a sense of wanderlust, embodying the glamorous excitement of the jetsetting lifestyle. A striking red colour, inspired by the chic uniforms of flight attendants and first-class cabins from a bygone era of air travel, is the base from which the design begins to take flight.

Ana Ćalić McLean and Josh McLean of In Addition specified ALPI California Burl veneer from Elton Group’s Eveneer Raw Burls collection, which complements the bold red hue by introducing rich organic tones that wrap the facade and flow across the ceiling, allowing luxury and warmth to coexist in perfect harmony throughout the space.

“Burl has an undeniable nostalgic draw,” says Ana. “Gracing the dashboard of the E-Type Jaguar and the interior of first-class cabins, it exudes elegance from an era when craft was a defining expression of character.”

Elton Group’s Eveneer California Burl is manufactured in Italy by ALPI from agricultural plantation timbers, which are then harvested and peeled into thin ribbons of veneer, dyed and reassembled into a square log using cutting-edge technology and design innovation. The elevated materiality generated through the specification of the timber veneer made it the natural choice for In Addition. “The use of natural recut veneer goes beyond its aesthetic appeal – it carries with it an inherent responsibility,” says Josh. “This responsibility lies not only in choosing materials that align with sustainable practices but also in ensuring that they are employed in a manner that enhances the natural beauty of the species.”

The colourful interiors of the July Chadstone store are masterfully enhanced by the ALPI timber veneers, available in Australia exclusively through Elton Group. The creative range of veneer colours and patterns is ideally suited for elevated retail and hospitality environments.

“Natural veneer offers a flexibility and versatility that can’t be replicated by alternative products,” says Ana. “It offers a genuine warmth and inherent familiarity through both scale and texture of the grain. We’ve used a number of veneers from Elton Group across our projects, which speaks to both the range and quality of product offered.”
