A classic sandstone residence, Lansell Road by Dion Hall is an invigorating combination of luxury and family functionality. The dark timber, concrete and marble interior palette celebrates a textured structural rhythm, heightened by the home’s clean lines and pensive hues.

Taking its name from its prestigious address on Toorak’s Lansell Road, considered one of the most elite and distinguished streets in the suburb, the home resides over four levels, accessible via a choice of a grand staircase or built-in lift. Its lower level houses a gym and sauna, luxurious home theatre and a six-car garage. Noteworthy features of Lansell Road also include its glass-doored cellar, rooftop garden and two modern kitchens – befitting a residence that was formerly the home of celebrity chef Shannon Bennett.

A conscious juxtaposition between light and dark is felt throughout Lansell Road. An abundance of natural light and glimpses of outdoor landscaping allow greenery to emerge, enlivening the otherwise restrained, austere spaces. The interior manages to remain calming yet striking in its reserved monochromatic palette and furnishings. This purposeful design again places the focus on the home’s texture and atmosphere. Its commanding presence is felt throughout all four levels – this grandeur is only further accentuated by its high ceilings and the bespoke joinery provided by Pure Interiors.

The project, executed by high-end Melbourne builder DuoBuilt, exemplifies luxury, and curves are celebrated throughout the home. A sweeping curved staircase, reminiscent of the natural street curve the residence is perched upon, brings a sense of drama to the spaces. This is further heightened by the elliptical skylight that infuses light from above, which accentuates the sinuous lines and tactile materiality of the sculptural form. The bold arcs challenge today’s idea of modern design, which tends strongly towards the rectilinear. Lansell Road instead embraces its curved forms that enhance its classic elegance.

With grandeur and sophistication, Lansell Road responds to its esteemed locale with aplomb.
