Re-defining Dynamic – Lincoln Sofa Range by Adam Goodrum
Exemplifying a contemporary approach, Cult’s in-house Australian design brand, nau, has unveiled its new Lincoln sofa collection by Adam Goodrum. Complementing the Furl coat stand and Nest Monochrome tables, the range simultaneously encapsulates luxury and functionality.
The collection appears minimalistic and simple on first impression, yet it is inundated with unique intricacies upon further inspection. The luxurious practicality defining the range is synonymous with the Lincoln Continental vehicles of the 1970s, the sofa taking inspiration from the car’s generous long lines, proportions and low-clearance chassis. The resulting sofas are characterised by the same elegance and deep proportions, seen in the signature wide inner armrest and extensive modularity.
The Lincoln range stands out due to its versatility, adaptability and dynamic nature. Not only is it available in set sofa widths but it is also available in single-seat and ottoman sizes that can stand alone or be configured as needed. The customisable nature of the collection sets it apart. The sofa is offered both with and without arms, as well as with the option of closed sides – the dynamic nature of the design encouraging individual expression.
nau’s Lincoln sofa collection complements the brand’s other releases, the Furl coat stand and Nest Monochrome tables, also designed by Adam Goodrum. More aptly described as a piece of functional sculpture than a coat stand thanks to its gestural tree-like design, the Furl coat stand enhances any space with its approach to usable furniture, available in walnut, oak and black-stain oak. The set of two tables originally released in 2016 has been given a colourful makeover whilst retaining the original design, stacked as totemic shapes or separated to individually cantilever over sofas, beds and chairs or simply float around a room.
The full nau range can be discovered in the 2022 campaign lookbook, which marked the brand’s first full-scale residential shoot in five years. The 2022 collection is now available to view in Cult stores in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore or online.
