Lucian’s new Glebe showroom by Klaus Carson Studio is many things at once – an office space, a working studio and a place to experience the transformative potential of light.

“Light can enhance and transform a space and change the perception of it – we wanted to create a place where we could showcase that,” says Lucian director Claudia Franchi. Located in the inner-west Sydney suburb of Glebe and designed in collaboration with Klaus Carson Studio, the architectural lighting brand’s new showroom is an immersive environment where light and design intertwine.

For Carson, the intention was to create an environment that reflected Lucian’s values – collaborative, design-led and practical. “The space is warm and inviting but also rigorous in the way it allows fittings to be tested against real architectural conditions,” he says. “Rather than a traditional showroom, we conceived it as a studio where light becomes the primary building block, showing its capacity to transform scale, texture and atmosphere.”

That design intent is embodied in a large circular Zero light by Folio: enveloped in sheer floor-to-ceiling curtains, it cleverly plays with scale and exudes a soft, lantern-like glow. The Zero is emblematic of the showroom’s carefully curated collection of architectural lighting sourced from some of the world’s most respected design houses, including Deltalight, Nocturnal Lighting, ewo, IBL Lighting, Lightkit, Folio, AQ Form, Martinelli Luce and Energyline. It also acts as a platform for education and community-building, hosting product launches, workshops and presentations.

“Rather than a traditional showroom, we conceived it as a studio where light becomes the primary building block, showing its capacity to transform scale, texture and atmosphere.”

Founded in 2020 by Claudia Franchi, Brendan Harris and Michael Posavac, Lucian’s offices now span Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. For the growing business, the new showroom reflects the company’s core values: quality, collaboration and a passion for innovative design. “Their work ethic, camaraderie and mostly their love for all things design and lighting made them want to create their own company,” says Victorian sales director Laurie Giraudeau. “It’s about innovative lighting brands combined with the best service and collaboration – but also not forgetting to have fun along the way.”

Lucian’s offerings range from refined architectural fittings to sculptural, decorative pieces. Among the standouts is the Nebbia by Deltalight, a collaboration with Park Associati that draws inspiration from the mists of Milan (nebbia is Italian for fog). Its rounded form and textured glass diffuser create a soft, atmospheric glow perfect for accent lighting in both indoor and outdoor spaces. Folio’s Zero system is another incredible innovation, allowing for truly integrated and seamless illuminated surfaces.

“Their work ethic, camaraderie and mostly their love for all things design and lighting made them want to create their own company.”

Lucian also stocks iconic pieces like Martinelli Luce’s Pipistrello, designed by Gae Aulenti in 1965. “It’s a classic – playful but timeless,” says Giraudeau. “It still feels completely relevant today, especially with the newer finishes.” Then there’s the refined Delux – by Studio Natural for Martinelli Luce – which features an opaline glass diffuser and pastel or marble finishes.

With its new Sydney showroom, Lucian has curated an elegant and inviting environment for architects, interior designers and design enthusiasts to explore the very best in unique, architectural lighting and how it shapes the spaces where we live and work.
