Two new nature-inspired colours from premier sintered stone brand Neolith – Everest Sunrise and Cappadocia Sunset – reflect the trend for warm, cocooning tones in interior design.

Neolith has introduced two new hues to its matchless inventory of sintered stone – Everest Sunrise and Cappadocia Sunset, both inspired by the natural world. Everest Sunrise is a neutral-hued stone with a quartzite-like finish and accents of gold reflective of the world’s tallest peak as the sun rises, while Cappadocia Sunset’s rich tonal greys evoke the rugged geographical formations of the famed region in central Turkey.

“From stone surfaces to paintwork, colours are increasingly soft and drawn from nature to inspire a sense of calm and connection.”

Both represent the increasing popularity of rich, warm, natural tones in interiors. Sydney-based Renee Richmond of Sage Interior Design Studio says this is particularly true for kitchens. “From stone surfaces to paintwork, colours are increasingly soft and drawn from nature to inspire a sense of calm and connection,” says the designer. “Both Everest Sunrise and Cappadocia Sunset evoke warmth and a handcrafted elegance, so they embody this trend perfectly.”

In a recent project for a design-savvy couple who wanted a striking, dramatic kitchen, Richmond ran Cappadocia Sunset across the top and sides of a central island and as the splashback. Combined with rich timber, metals, bronze detailing, Venetian plaster, fine metallic mesh panelling and a striking light fitting, the stone brings a sense of rich sophistication. “To elevate the Neolith stone to be the centrepiece of the design, complementary materials were carefully selected to enhance its beauty and uniqueness.”

The stones’ opulent look and feel make them ideal for bathrooms that exude luxury. Which is why Richmond and the Sage team chose them for a powder room where they wanted to create a spa-like ambience. “Using generous expanses of stone across different surfaces, as we’ve done here, adds both opulence and tranquillity, giving a space the feel of a five-star sanctuary.” They used Everest for the vanity and behind the mirror, with Cappadocia on the floor. “The effect is instantly soothing. And textured Venetian plaster walls in a similar shade add to the sense of being cosseted.”

Like all of Neolith’s sintered stones, Everest Sunrise and Cappadocia Sunrise are crafted from raw, natural materials and, because no quartz is added to their formulation, they are fully recyclable. In a further reflection of the brand’s commitment to sustainability, up to 98 per cent of those raw materials are recycled, up to 100 per cent of the water employed in the manufacturing process is recycled and all of the electricity used comes from renewable sources.

Both stones – which are from the flagship New Classtone and Fusion collections – also possess the superior durability Neolith’s products are known for, being highly resistant to water, heat, scratches, stains and UV exposure. Their formulation also means they require minimal maintenance and zero resurfacing.
