In Focus: Noho
In a world where our homes are not just spaces but reflections of our lifestyles, Noho emerges as a beacon of creativity and innovation in the residential furniture space.
Noho is bold, colourful and expressive, creating innovative, sustainable furniture that is both flexible and playful, perfectly suited to how we live, work and play at home. At the heart of the brand’s philosophy is a belief in bringing joy into daily life. The cherished designs on offer are more than just pieces – they are an embodiment of purpose. Noho designs furniture that moves with you, both physically and emotionally. The goal is not just to furnish a home but to create an environment that fosters comfort, collaboration and wellbeing.
Noho’s creative prowess is fuelled by its partnership with Formway, a powerhouse New Zealand studio with a history of designing award-winning products for both residential and commercial environments – most notably the celebrated Life, Generation and ReGeneration chairs for Knoll. Formway’s approach is research-led, driven by an understanding of what people want and need in their homes, and Noho is no different.
The brand’s product line-up continues to push boundaries and redefine the residential furniture landscape. The collaboration between Noho and Formway has brought many firsts to the market. The inaugural product was the Noho Move chair, launched in 2020, which evolved from five years of careful research, prototyping and testing. As its name suggests, the Noho Move chair encourages movement, aligning with the natural inclination of the human body. Made from nylon – derived from end-of-life fishing nets and old carpets – it not only offers comfort but is also sustainable.
In March 2023, Noho unveiled the Lightly chair, a game-changer in the world of sustainable furniture. Crafted from a bio-based polymer derived from the castor bean plant, the Lightly chair is not only lightweight and stackable but also boasts a lower carbon footprint – a milestone in sustainable material development for the furniture industry. The seat, made from post-consumer-recycled ASA plastic, adds yet another layer of environmental sensitivity.
Noho and Formway have also collaborated on the newly launched Dine table, designed to surpass the toughest commercial and stability standards, and made from materials that age gracefully and are environmentally conscious. The table is the perfect complement to both the Noho Move and Lightly chairs.
