Architect James Stockwell’s award-winning Leura House is on the market for the first time since it was built.
The house in New South Wales’ Blue Mountains won the Wilkinson Award in 2008. The jury citation for the Wilkinson Award read, “the house bears all the hallmarks of the inventive and the pragmatic, a building that is highly attuned to its setting and easily manipulated to take full advantage of the varying climate.”
With landscaping by Craig Burton, Leura House is arranged around an L-shape to create a sheltered outdoor space with scenic views over the gully. The floor plan was conceived to be flexible and accommodate a multigenerational family. There are five bedrooms and a loft that can sleep up to 12, as well as a separate studio. The house has two bathrooms and two powder rooms. There is also an original two-bedroom cottage dating from 1913 on the 0.5-hectare property.
Leura House is for sale through Marcus Lloyd-Jones of Modern House.
