One Great Jones Alley undergoes a vibrant transformation under Jason Saft’s creative vision, blending dynamic moments and sculptural elements while respecting the architectural heritage of NoHo’s buildings.

Located in one of Manhattan’s most coveted neighbourhoods, One Great Jones Alley has been redesigned and restored. Saft reworks the interior, crafting a residence that reflects its current owners while honouring the building’s history. For Saft, this project was more than a mere redecoration; it was a journey to redefine urban living in a much broader context. By drawing inspiration from the existing charm and character, he uncovered a curious and playful approach. “I knew I needed to stay true to the home’s design ethos and add my own imprint,” he explains.

Through a careful curation of vintage treasures, custom artworks and earth-coloured accents, Saft crafts a space that radiates warmth.

The apartment is very much a reflection of its surroundings: vibrant, eclectic and undeniably cool. “While at first this project paralysed me with fear,” says Saft, “I feel like it’s some of my best work.” Through a careful curation of vintage treasures, custom artworks and earth-coloured accents, Saft crafts a space that radiates warmth. The goal was to encourage residents and visitors alike to make their mark while discovering moments and objects that resonate with them. Ultimately, the redesign celebrates creativity at its core.

The renovated home pays tribute to its historical roots while embracing a modern freshness. Serving as an urban retreat amid a bustling street, Saft draws inspiration from the building’s storied past. The importance of the structure added a sense of pressure to ensure the proposal was fitting. From abstract Picasso-inspired pieces dotted throughout to the quiet elegance of the chartreuse-green bedroom, each element contributes to a rich tapestry of vibrant colours and subtle moments. “My greatest source of inspiration for designing this space was the grandness of the building’s past,” says Saft. “While I’m used to working under pressure in terms of time, expectations and a low-to-modest budget, I’ve never worked in a home that had been touched by so many people whose work I admire and aspire to.”

While honouring the architectural history, the new elements introduced in One Great Jones Alley are designed to inspire future creativity. Saft honours the home’s past while establishing uplifting areas that foster inspiration, setting the stage for the unwritten chapters to unfold.
