Instilling richness and curiosity through a layered approach, Queens Park House draws from the historical and personal charm of the original home to propose its next chapter. Together with architecture by Ben Vitale, Arent&Pyke balances an unexpected approach to formal composition, emboldened by colour.

Set amongst similar era homes, Queens Park House emphasises its heritage and previous lineage, allowing the unique and bespoke detailing of its origins to coexist harmoniously with the new. As both a renovation and contemporary re-sculpting, the resulting home emerges with its own personality, an extension of its owners and previous makers. Emphasising connections to natural light and the surrounding landscape, the introduced elements add a playful yet elevated feel to the home, embedding their own story through their curation. Within the architectural works by Ben Vitale, Arent&Pyke introduces their unique touch through interior design, furnishing and decoration, completing the narrative of the home and embedding a textured depth in the process.

Queens Park House takes numerous cues from the original Federation-era home and reinterprets them through a contemporary lens. Whilst the original features, detailing and crafted elements remain in place, tones are drawn from existing stonework to propose the resulting palette and approach. The newly formed kitchen and bathrooms then become crafted moments in themselves, with curved detailing and an interesting palette combination that reflect a previous time and a shared spiritedness.

With a deliberate richness interwoven into the introduced elements, the aim was to propose a modern sense of luxury that has its own considered base. Whilst creating the home as a restful place to retreat from the world, the aim was also to ensure the residence was a social and active series of spaces that supported everyday life and the rituals that go with them. There is a calming undertone that is emphasised through the combination of plush and textural elements, each inviting an engagement. In referencing the nostalgia of the home and fusing it with the new, the structure reflects its past whilst also echoing its current custodians.
