With the impact of fashion on environmental factors becoming ever-apparent, devising ways to extend the life of clothing is a key focus for many forward-thinking brands. Assembly Label is one of these brands – the recent launch of the new Re-Worn capsule collection and take-back service reveals the brand’s commitment to creating a circular future and re-evaluating the nature of the fashion landscape.

Since 2011, Assembly Label has been dedicated to redefining the fashion industry. Led by the concept of a capsule wardrobe and only using high-quality long-lasting natural materials, the brand makes timeless and versatile essentials. Inspired by an appreciation for minimalist design, the brand’s offering is all about reducing wastefulness and extending the lifespan of clothes. It is this ethos that led to the Re-Worn program.

Arriving September 7, this Re-Worn collection will be the first in a series of limited releases featuring Assembly Label’s most timeless, pre-loved pieces deserving of a new life.

Arriving September 7, this Re-Worn collection will be the first in a series of limited releases featuring Assembly Label’s most timeless, pre-loved pieces deserving of a new life. These capsules will be available to shop online and through a series of Re-Worn pop-up locations – starting with the Assembly Label Bondi store – announced each month.

The initiative was first introduced in 2021 as a take-back program and is designed to support a circular economy – a system of returning, repairing and recycling. One takes unwanted Assembly Label items to Re-Worn and those contributing will receive a 20 per cent discount on their next purchase. Items are then inspected, professionally laundered and, if required, repaired before becoming part of a Re-Worn collection. Those items beyond repair are responsibly recycled through Assembly Label’s recycling partner SCR Group. Items go to an Australian-owned partner facility in Malaysia and are recycled into rags or converted into biofuels.

Re-Worn reveals a progressive, sustainable ethos and genuine care for the environment.

A genuine and long-term commitment to design with the entire lifecycle of a garment in mind is what distinguishes Assembly Label from other clothing labels. The brand prides itself on never having sent products to landfills. Since launching Re-Worn, over 1,360 items have been laundered and repaired and 679 kilograms of garments have been collected for recycling. Currently not a profitable program, all the sales from Re-Worn go back into providing the service.

Re-Worn reveals a progressive, sustainable ethos and genuine care for the environment. Playing a valuable role in a broader shift towards a more optimistic future for our planet, Assembly Label balances embracing circular practices such as repairs, resale and recycling with designing high-quality products that endure.
