Script Skincare by Hecker Guthrie flips much of what we know about retail on its head. Here, you’re encouraged to take a slow, intuitive journey through the store, beginning with “insight and intrigue, through to education, and landing in a progressive place of treatment and solutions,” explain the designers.

The design is not only functional but a clever interpretation of the pillars on which this skincare brand stands – simplicity, purity and restraint. There is also a Dutch modernist influence; robust, utilitarian materials such as glass and stainless steel are pared back and honest in their nature. The effect is captivating and raw, giving way to the human experience and serving as a minimal yet striking backdrop for quiet, guided moments of discovery and self-care.

The design is not only functional but a clever interpretation of the pillars on which this skincare brand stands – simplicity, purity and restraint.

Robust, utilitarian materials such as stainless steel and glass define the interiors, and loose furniture in ultramarine blue cuts through the silvery tones.

The layout and joinery enhance this; sightlines are carefully framed, and subtle pathways appear from one pocket of the store to another. Products are displayed elegantly – without vying for attention – and colour has been used sparingly but to great effect; loose furniture in ultramarine blue cuts through the silver and white tones of the store and speckled stone glimmers softly at each turn. Something exciting occurs here, and these bold elements embody that state.

Script Skincare is airy, spacious and brightly lit, but not clinically so. It’s a space you’ll want to meander and linger in. You may even find yourself making the trip here for the experience alone.
