Brickworks announces the launch of Special Shapes, a celebration of craftsmanship and texture. The collection is an extension of the La Paloma range, with an emphasis on traditional brick technology fused with modern interpretation.

Inspired by the Spanish greats Dalí, Picasso and Miró, La Paloma is a family-owned company driven by high quality, elegant and bold design. Founded in 1979 in the province of Toledo, the Special Shapes collection is a refined addition to La Paloma, available exclusively to Brickworks.

Made from naturally occurring minerals that can lock in strength and colour, the Special Shapes products reflect a more sculptural and artisan take on the classical brick, with designs that project movement, passion and an individual texture. Their unique durable shape allows a broader scope of form and function, influenced by the Spanish art and architecture that came before.

Designed to suit a sleek and contemporary fashion, the three tactile forms – Tash, Curved and Comb – create incomparable contrasts when used in larger scale projects.

Available in three distinct shapes and taking notes from Spanish design cues, the bricks are made to standard size and sealed with a matte finish. Designed to suit a sleek and contemporary fashion, the three tactile forms – Tash, Curved and Comb – create striking contrasts when used in larger scale projects. The Tash brick, developed in collaboration with architects, is a low maintenance and long-lasting design. The Curved brick has a handcrafted appearance with the opportunity to project individual and bespoke expression. Finally, the Comb design is both consistent in its form and flexible in its textual contribution; this design can be used both horizontally and vertically to create an added layer to structure.

The bricks are available in colours two colours, which were inspired by sun-drenched façades, and are brought to life through natural tones.

Miro is a versatile off-white, whereas Azul is a vibrant charcoal colour cut with blue undertones. Slight tonal variations are welcomed in the creation of the bricks, giving a tailored illusion to the design they are applied to.

Uniting an appreciation for cultural heritage and exceptional design, the Special Shapes collection complements the Brickworks range. “Unique to the Brickworks’ offering, the Special Shapes range tows the line between traditional bricks and art, providing a solid yet elegant style not seen elsewhere,” explains Brickworks General Manager International Marketing Brett Ward.
