Surrounded by the rolling hills and lush greenery of 43 hectares of working cattle farmland in the Great Southern Region of Western Australia, Upland Farm consists of four lusciously comfortable cabins created to allow holiday-makers to soak up the quiet with a rural outlook all to themselves.

For most busy city dwellers, a break from the noise and a pause in activity is the ticket for resetting and restoring peace of mind. This is where offerings such as Upland Farm come in, providing accommodation with a stripped back yet ultimately comfortable aesthetic that is inherently calming while also ensuring all the modern necessities are on offer for a restful break.

Alongside the warmth of the timbers, the cabins feature natural stone, leather and linen upholstery fabrics, finely textured bedding and understated rustic accessories, all chosen to create a sense of country charm and to provide a balance between laid-back luxury and sensuous softness.

Designed by LAHAUS, Upland Farm’s cabins have the external appearance of rural outposts, with corrugated steel cladding and crazy paving surrounds complete with outdoor showers and bathtubs, while inside, rich and warm timber linings and blackbutt timber floors offer country-style comfort and serenity. Built-in seating in stone and timber provide spaces to shed the necessities of the outdoors and to kick back for the evening beside the roaring fire. Large-scale windows lead the eye towards framed views of the private farm outlook, allowing greenery to work its magic as a natural stress reliever, and wide decks and outdoor spaces allow guests to enjoy the breeze.

Tiled bathrooms in warm neutrals and soft greens reflect the sun-bleached colours of Western Australia’s landscapes, with enveloping circular spa tubs to soak away aches and pains. Showers and tubs are partially concealed by rusticated Corten steel screens, and sandblasted metal lends a weathered look to the hardware in the cabins’ wet areas, contributing to the quintessentially pared-back aesthetic.

For guests looking to shed the excesses and fuss of city life, these cabins provide a place to do so in style. With a design that treads the line between rustic charm and epicurean indulgence, Upland Farm offers the best of both worlds.
