Inspired by the core values of quality, sustainability and an inherent focus on beautiful design, Cantilever’s latest release, the K3 Kitchen System in SoftTouch Black, exhibits the true depth in the brand’s product language, whilst emphasising the versatility of Cantilever’s Australian-made Kitchen Systems.

“We have always been attracted to matte finishes and this black laminate has an irresistible feel,” says Kylie Forbes of Cantilever. “The K3 Kitchen System in SoftTouch Black is finger proof and easy to maintain.” As seen here in Cantilever’s Hutton Street project in Melbourne, the latest release is paired with concrete benchtops by Hatch Concrete, combined with a custom stainless-steel benchtop featuring an integrated sink and Voda tap by Sussex Taps. Representing a slight departure from the design aesthetic of previous Cantilever Kitchen Systems, this offering facilitates a differing style whilst maintaining the significant advantages of specifying a developed product applicable to projects of any brief and scope.

“The SoftTouch Black finish pushes the K3 system in a completely new aesthetic direction,” expands Kylie. “The exposed ply and square cut out handle are a signature of the (K3) System, creating a distinct shadow. In the SoftTouch Black release, the shadows are muted, and the tones of the wood are much more subtle, working to complement the colour palette to floorboards or timber accents without overbearing the design.”

An attractive offering to architects, designers and builders, the key advantage of the K3 Kitchen System, or any Cantilever Kitchen System for that matter, is the relative ease of application to differing sites, achieved without negating the handmade manufacturing quality or the authenticity of Cantilever’s local designs. Architect George Stavrias recently specified the Cantilever System for his own home; “The beauty of working with Cantilever is that they’ve developed a system that they’ve got downpat, that looks good, and works within reasonable budgets,” George explains. “You can just nominate an intention and they detail it in a way that’s really thorough.”
