Located on a tree lined avenue overlooking the Yarra River, this grand travertine-clad residence exudes classical style. Fulfilling the vision of landscape designer Jack Merlo, The Botanical Group has created an enticing sense of oasis, tucked away in central Melbourne.

Carefully integrating greenery and landscaped elements into the architectural forms of the home – artfully constructed by Davies Henderson – The Botanical Group, one of Australia’s premier landscape construction contractors, has enlivened Vista Grove both inside and out. The result is a residence that acts as a retreat from the activity of the bustling city whilst offering close connections to its iconic natural features.

In addition to the home’s internal living areas, green living spaces include rooftop terraces and a serene glade-like pool and entertaining zone, as well as grassed areas for play.

Having many longstanding, ongoing relationships with Melbourne’s leading builders, architects and landscape designers, The Botanical Group was confident to take on the difficult project, drawing on years of partnership with Davies Henderson to rise to the challenge. Due to the position on the sloping block above the Yarra River, the site had limited access and reduced craning capabilities for material importations. Clever retention principles were employed to bring daylight to the sublevel gymnasium, and forward planning saw early staging of works to the rooftop garden completed before access was further reduced.

The interiors, designed by renowned interior designer David Hicks, feature a stately palette of intricately streaked sleek Italian stone, warm metals, leathers and bespoke leafy fabrics. This combination of materials and finishes is elevated by views of The Botanical Group’s beautifully positioned and trimmed Buxus japonica spheres and layered English ivy, as well as by the river and gum trees visible through the large windows. In addition to the home’s internal living areas, green living spaces include rooftop terraces and a serene glade-like pool and entertaining zone, as well as grassed areas for play.

To ensure the landscaping remains as intended, The Property Care Group has been contracted to maintain the plants and ensure they thrive. As a newly established associated company of The Botanical Group, The Property Care Group is a trusted partner in retaining the desired essence of the landscape design. Currently based in Melbourne, The Property Care Group is soon to expand its horticultural care and cleaning services to Sydney in 2023.

With a quintessentially luxurious aesthetic, Vista Grove is testament to a grand vision and precise execution. Working in collaboration with landscape designer Jack Merlo and builders Davies Henderson, The Botanical Group has delivered an immersive oasis – carefully tended by The Property Care Group – for the inhabitants to enjoy for years to come.
