Born in Denmark and remaining unchanged since its first iterations, VOLA typifies the essence of what it is to be Danish – of democratic design and of a life lived well. The totality of how design influences the everyday, and every moment within that day, creates a proposition of a holistically considered life, where everything is better because it has been designed.

As humans, we are the products of our environments, taking in and absorbing details, textures and the way everything intersects. In Denmark, where design is so well celebrated and supported in all facets of culture, that immersion rings a little different and is almost part of the Danish DNA. The strength of the traditions underpinning Danish life, of refinement and heightened craftsmanship, functionality and quality, are all embedded into everything VOLA creates and touches. This is exemplified in the idea of ‘total design’, encompassing all facets of life in the process and outputs of design. By listening and responding to the environment and the dynamics of those that move through it, design becomes an active and responsive element within its context.

Founded on a dedication to craft, VOLA ensures the best principles and techniques form the processes of each piece.

When something has been well considered, engineered and crafted, it becomes effortless and seemingly natural. The timelessness of VOLA’s pieces, and their transcendence since first imagined by Arne Jacobsen some 50 years ago, is the result of a close connection to nature – an element that remains organic and evolving, instead of following trends. Founded on a dedication to craft, VOLA ensures the best principles and techniques form the processes behind each piece. A key contributor to the continued prevalence of the pieces is the passing down of generational knowledge and skill, from brushing and polishing techniques to understanding and respecting materials to best optimise the outcome, remaining resilient to wear and time.

Intersections with public spaces, utilitarian objects, the consideration of light, patina, functionality, and quality – these have all come from a such a strong lineage of Danish designers who have and continue to live and breathe design in all areas of their lives. The way in which functionality is intertwined amongst form is integral to VOLA. By constantly looking to imitate nature and natural movement, a simplicity emerges and ensures that the resulting pieces become an extension of how we move through and use spaces. The complexities and inner workings of each of the pieces then become a hidden and almost unnoticed element.

Through such simplicity there is no trickery, only authenticity – an absolute commitment to ‘total design’.

Committed to perfection, every component introduced within the VOLA range comes from a rigorous process of elimination – where only the best will do. Bringing together the pinnacle in innovation and technology with the highest quality materials and processes, the mixers, taps and accessories within the range are made to last. The same quality ensures that waste can be recycled and reused in other products or by other manufacturers, as there are so few flaws, furthering the life of VOLA’s influence. In the removal of trends or superfluousness, there is a more level and democratic platform created. Through such simplicity there is no trickery, only authenticity – an absolute commitment to ‘total design’.
