What’s New In Design
We take a look at what’s new in design, from reissues of an iconic sofa and armchair to colour updates of Nanna Ditzel’s 1989 Bench for Two.
Amanta sofa by Mario Bellini
Hay has reissued the famed Amanta sofa by Mario Bellini through a contemporary, sustainability-focused lens. First revealed at 3daysofdesign, the seat retains Bellini’s celebrated modular form – a curved shell base and plush, independent cushions – while updating its composition with recycled materials and bio-based foam. The compact yet bold sofa adapts effortlessly from singular lounge pieces to sprawling arrangements. Offered in a palette of tactile, saturated fabrics, this edition brings a fresh tactility and ecological consciousness to a 20th-century classic.

Bench for Two by Nanna Ditzel
Fredericia reintroduced Nanna Ditzel’s 1989 Bench for Two in its original striking black. Three new hues – red, yellow and pink – also make their mark, reflecting Ditzel’s playful use of colour. Inspired by the delicate symmetry of butterflies, the backrest features concentric circles and a single red dot – a motif born from a spontaneous sketch made on the prototype. Crafted from solid maple and veneer in collaboration with Danish brand A. Petersen, this piece, which was also launched at 3daysofdesign, embodies artistry with a touch of intimacy.

Meadmore Leather Sling chair by Clement Meadmore
Originally designed by Meadmore in 1963, the Leather Sling chair, model 248, is a stand-out piece in Australian design history. Its sleek, minimalist shape made waves internationally, earning it a spot in the Museum of Modern Art’s collection in New York City just a few years later. After decades out of production, it’s now been reissued by Grazia & Co in Melbourne, with a polished stainless-steel frame in a mirror finish and a beautifully hand-stitched leather sling available in natural, black or olive.
