New York City-based architecture and interiors practice Beaudry Collier Design has transformed a loft in downtown Manhattan into a place of soft colour and inviting texture, creating a unique family home that feels both sophisticated and youthful.

Inspired by the abundant natural light and the open, angular floor plan, Alexander Collier and Cassandra Beaudry of Beaudry Collier Design sought to anchor the space with modern shapes, colours and textures. The iconic Sofa 190 from Pierre Augustin Rose, upholstered in a cream boucle, forms a sculptural dialogue with a custom-designed walnut dining table that subtly converges with the architecture’s irregular angles. A solid timber window banquette frames the view of the renowned Bond and Lafayette intersection, connecting the apartment to Noho’s vibrant, creative neighbourhood.

Instead of adhering to a singular open floor plan, a playful, five-piece rug, designed in collaboration with Paolo Lenti, thoughtfully harmonises the two separate sitting rooms.

Instead of adhering to a singular open floor plan, a playful, five-piece rug, designed in collaboration with Paolo Lenti, thoughtfully harmonises the two separate sitting rooms. In one corner, the bold rug, handcrafted from green-hued silk cords, cleverly references the gestural artwork by Ammon Rost.

Beyond the kitchen in the primary living space, a Poliform sectional, upholstered in a jewel-toned mohair, provides textural contrast to a pair of limestone coffee tables by Atelier Benoit Viaene. An egg-shaped mirror from New York’s Bower Studios bounces the loft’s ever-changing light into the minimalist corridor, enhancing the dynamic atmosphere of the space.

The designers collaborated with a range of local artisans to enrich the family home.

The designers collaborated with a range of local artisans to enrich the family home. A scenic mural by Maya Santangelo, inspired by the client’s childhood, adds an enchanting and meaningful touch to the nursery. In the primary bedroom, two handcrafted ceramic lamps by Dumais Made flank a braided bedhead designed in collaboration with Paola Lenti, creating a cocoon-like retreat.

In the main bathroom, floor-to-ceiling marble creates a striking sense of grandeur, contrasting with the warm timber veneer of the powder room. The angular walls of the existing architecture are softened by the velvety texture of limewash paint. These natural materials contribute to the loft’s calm atmosphere and tactile interest.
