For the Barre Body Studio Project Mihaly Slocombe Architects encountered a luxury exercise brand keen to consolidate its leading market position.

The brief was to create an elegant, timely, and effective brand-led architectural response for Barre Body’s flagship studio. As Australia’s principal luxury barre exercise business, Barre wanted to continue leading its increasingly competitive market, while improving client experience and well being, and extending the brand’s focus on fitness and natural beauty.

Where necessary, the studio challenged Barre’s brief to ensure they matched architecture with business objectives. The design revealed the existing concrete slab to celebrate its beauty, honesty and integrity, and by extension, the client’s brand. Mihaly Slocombe Architects introduced an expressive timber ceiling; they added softness and calm through full-height linen curtains; and introduced a retail component as an addition revenue stream without detracting from the aesthetic. All within budget.

A recommended builder experienced in delivering quality to immovable deadlines was brought onto the project by Mihaly Slocombe Architects. This achieved no loss of class sequence for Barre’s clientele.

Mihaly Slocombe Architects researched Barre’s competitive environment to inform design innovation, and built on the client’s well resolved visitor experience program – how best to facilitate a seamless and enjoyable client experience.

The ultimate aim was to create a commercially smart, considered and well resolved space, a space that would become a huge draw card for Barre’s clients. Each time a client visits they become immersed in a really beautiful experience brought to life through stunning architectural design.
