The In Bed Store by We Are Triibe is a commercial retail interior design project located in the inner city Sydney suburb of Paddington.

In Bed is a luxury linen, bedding and homewares brand that engaged We Are Triibe to design their first flagship store in Sydney. The studio wanted to create a relaxed yet sophisticated aesthetic, using quality natural materials and an understated colour palette. This project was particularly special for We Are Triibe due to their long time friendship with the founders of In Bed.

We Are Triibe drew from the brand’s original source of inspiration since its first inception – the spaces of real creative people. The atmosphere of IN BED’s in-depth online journal featuring interviews and photos of these real homes and studios provided a strong aesthetic foundation and ethos for the interior design of the store.

We Are Triibe have been able to properly demonstrate their signature use of natural timber elements in order to create a sense of both warmth and calmness in this project. This was an important element of the design as it aligned perfectly with the overall ethos of the In Bed brand.

“We incorporated carefully-selected natural materials that are layered through the kitchen, dining and living areas of the store with a variety of timbers through wall panelling and custom joinery. We also used olive green textured tiles for the point of sale and bathroom area to further apply the natural palette”, explain the design duo behind We are Triibe.

The space is flooded by natural light and the design team used this to create a bright a welcoming design that truly does justice to the beauty of the products on display.

All the furniture on display in the store was sourced from local Australian designers and friends of In Bed such as Made By Morgen and Henry Wilson.

The collaboration between We Are Triibe and In Bed has created a truly alluring design space that genuinely stands out amongst the numerous retail outlets on Sydney’s iconic Oxford Street.

A design challenge that needed to be overcome by the team at We Are Triibe was the re-design of the existing steep stairs. For this task the studio adopted a contemporary approach by incorporating a clean design and a lightly curved hand rail which beautifully compliments the ocean blue mosaic tiled store counter.
