MHC.3 Miss Chair

Designer Tobia Scarpa

The MHC.3 Miss Chair, designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa in 1986, is an exemplar of timeless design, epitomising the seamless blend of form and function. As part of the prestigious Molteni&C Heritage Collection, the Miss Chair showcases a system of soft, unbroken linear rhythms, creating an elegant and timeless silhouette. Its slim, splayed legs ensure stability, with the front legs curving gracefully to form armrests that flow into the backrest. The back legs extend upwards to create a supported backrest, forming a seamlessly integrated chair structure.

The seat, meticulously inserted between these fluid lines, is available in luxurious padded seat with leather or fabric covers, or hand-woven ecru or dark grey paper cord, offering versatility and comfort. In 2017, Tobia Scarpa reimagined the armrest joint to enhance comfort and linearity, maintaining the chair’s contemporary relevance. The Miss Chair’s design, rooted in craft tradition yet modern in its appeal, earned it the Wallpaper* Design Awards Best Reissue. It stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of architectural and design mastery.
