Led by designer, Anne-Claire Petre, acp atelier is a Melbourne-based furniture design practice. Over a decade in the design industry and studies in industrial and furniture design across France and Scotland enabled Anne-Claire to develop a deep understanding of good design, materials and processes. After completing an Associates program at the JamFactory, Adelaide, Anne-Claire relocated to Melbourne to work for design and architecture firms. After taking the leap to found her own furniture studio, Anne-Claire’s focus is on working closely with local manufacturers and designing products which are built to last. “To me, the idea is that we should surround ourselves with objects we really love and respect.” Upholding the studio’s principles of practicality, integrity, clean aesthetics and simplicity, the Sedis collection is acp atelier’s first collaboration with Stylecraft. Sedis balances sculptural curves with strong, minimalist lines informed by Art Deco architecture and is a welcome addition to Stylecraft’s suite of Australian designed and manufactured seating.
Stylecraft has been providing furniture of original, contemporary design for 65 years. First established in Melbourne, Stylecraft is now represented in six showrooms around Australia, as well as one in Singapore. Their product offering is suitable for commercial, educational, hospitality and residential spaces and is a collection of Australian designed and manufactured furniture and international brands that they represent on an exclusive basis.
Their European collection includes Arper, Artemide, Tacchini, Verzelloni and Sipa from Italy, Akaba, Stua and Vilagrasa from Spain, Cascando from the Netherlands, Prostoria from Croatia, Maiori from France and Eikund from Norway. Japanese companies, Ritzwell and Karimoku New Standard, offer traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary aesthetic to complement the European product offering. Their local brands include acp atelier, LEN by Helen Kontouris, Ross Gardam, Keith Melbourne, ESO, Thinking Works, SKEEHAN, and Urban Commons, together with their own exclusive in house collections designed and manufactured in Australia.
