Potato and Sprout

100% recycled plastic statement pieces, made in Australia from locally sourced post-consumer and agricultural waste. A completely novel fold, slot and twist together flat-pack design is seen across the range of lounge chairs, side tables. Each piece is UV stabilized to live indoors or outside year-round, utilising the inherent flexibility and durability plastic affords as a material. Their striking look and bold colours mark P&S pieces out as the elephant in any space; demanding attention with their ‘positive dystopian’ aesthetic — described as Neo Brutalism meets Bahaus. The colourways are carefully chosen and limited run, maintaining the individuality of each release. The range is Australian-designed and made from waste stream to final products which are manufactured with 100% renewable energy and hand-finished by local plastics recycling manufacturer, Defy Design, in Sydney. And each product is fully circular with the ability to be recycled again at end of life. Conceived by Sydney-based couple Alex and Charlie who fell in love with recycled plastic as a material, and wanted their own bright and colourful furniture that would stand the test of time — rather than becoming yet more waste within a few seasons. Bold by design, Potato and Sprout will contiune to focus on creating furniture and supporting pieces that are equal parts stylish and sustainable. The driving force behind this is the intent to remain Violently Optimistic — the idea that while the world might seem a little messed up, we can still transform the trashy bits into something more upbeat.
