Episode 3: Community Centric – Linnaeus Farm by Linnaeus Collection
Central to the development and appeal of Linnaeus Farm is its sense of cohesion – between the farm and the local community of Berry, the coastal locale where it resides. Considered choices were made to incorporate elements of the area into all aspects of the farm so that it would sit harmoniously within the township.
Nestled within this historical town on the South Coast of New South Wales, Linnaeus Farm is defined by green hills, fresh country air and unspoiled coastlines. Linnaeus Collection sought to connect to the area, respect it and find ways to incorporate elements of the surrounding community into the farm to foster a sense of belonging.
Linnaeus Collection’s approach is grounded in connecting to the local communities where their projects reside. As such, there has been a conscious effort made to hire locals and promote businesses within Berry. By doing so, the farm connects to the broader township and gives back while also ensuring the farm stay is well-received. As a result, there will be opportunities for ongoing employment, and there are other various projects in the works to create continued relationships with the people of Berry. One such initiative is a potential community garden that Linnaeus Farm will assist in finding suitable grounds for.
Connecting to the natural surrounds is another fundamental way of demonstrating an affinity with the people. The luxury accommodation experience is about nurturing an appreciation of the land that the farm sits upon by offering outdoor spaces for meditation as well as a pool and sauna. The original owner created the farm with this in mind, ensuring that it offered ample opportunities to spend time in nature – a main priority of Linnaeus Collection.
