Functional Elegance – Luca and Isla by Arli Homes
Arli Homes works alongside architects and interior designers to build houses that are not only functional, but sleek and accessible. The homes in the recently built Aurora Estate are designed by DKO and effortlessly achieve this balance. The duo of residences – Luca and Isla –exemplify the design ethos of Arli Homes.
With a focus on designing houses that are high-quality, well-considered and accessible, Arli Homes successfully builds residences that resonate with different styles and budgets. Dominic Gaetani, Senior Associate at DKO says, “We believe that good architecture shouldn’t be a privilege, and that everyone should be able to experience thoughtful design.” So, as part of the design process, Arli Homes answers the desire to make thoughtfully designed architecture more affordable by using quality, simple designs underpinned by a ‘less is more’ approach.
The Aurora Estate encompasses Luca and Isla. Both residences encapsulate the design ethos and contemporary, airy feel that defines Arli Homes. The brief for Luca was to create a two-story family home that was open plan and had effortless circulation and flow. As you enter Luca, you are met with a living room featuring a statement staircase that welcomes beautiful, filtered light. Luca’s interiors consist of muted tones, timber flooring and plenty of open space.
Creating a home that is aesthetically stunning, practical and functional can be challenging. Isla is a single-story home that stands out for adopting this balance using open plan living, distinctive textures and materiality. The kitchen, living and dining space are all connected and seamlessly merge with the backyard, al-fresco dining area and a multi-purpose room. The palette of materials and textures includes white panelled interior walls and an extruded brick façade.
Both homes balance usability with quality design. Practical features include wall ovens at eye level to alleviate bending and stone benchtops and splashbacks for easy cleaning. Arli Homes designs simply yet effectively, using materials such as stone, porcelain tiles, timber flooring and glass to result in a home that is an ideal canvas to be built upon.
Luca and Isla were born from DKO and Arli Homes’s shared desire to design a house that would speak to diversity and focuses on practicality and liveability. As such, both homes promote the sentiment that everyone is entitled to experience thoughtful and architecturally designed homes.
