At its flagship at 60 Madison Avenue, Australian outdoor furniture brand Harbour celebrated half a century with an event that brought together more than 250 guests from across the design community, including designers, partners, media and friends. More than a milestone, the evening became a reflection of Harbour’s continued evolution – from its origins in Sydney to its growing presence across the United States and beyond.

Harbour began as a family business shaped by craft, material understanding and a distinctly Australian relationship with the outdoors.

Founded in 1976, Harbour began as a family business shaped by craft, material understanding and a distinctly Australian relationship with the outdoors. What started in a Sydney workshop has since grown into an international lifestyle brand, led by co-founders Nicholas Condos and Harrison Condos, whose work continues to draw on the family’s heritage of making. Their father, Jim Condos, brought with him a deep appreciation for simplicity, functionality and durability, principles that remain central to the brand’s design language today.

This foundation has allowed Harbour to occupy a particular place within contemporary outdoor design. Its collections are informed by the relaxed nature of Australian coastal living while carrying a refined, global sensibility. Clean lines, generous proportions and durable materials come together to create furniture that feels equally suited to private residences, hospitality environments and large-scale design projects.

Harbour’s Madison Avenue showroom serves as the brand’s global flagship, placing its Australian design perspective within one of the world’s most energetic design cities.

In New York, this story found a fitting setting. Opened in 2024, Harbour’s Madison Avenue showroom serves as the brand’s global flagship, placing its Australian perspective within one of the world’s most energetic design cities. For the anniversary event, the showroom became a gathering place – not only for celebrating the past five decades, but for considering the future of outdoor living as an increasingly central part of the home.

The evening also marked the unveiling of the Sydney Collection, a limited-edition range created in honour of Harbour’s 50th anniversary. Inspired by the light, lifestyle and coastal spirit of Sydney, the collection introduces yacht-inspired detailing, elevated craftsmanship and a high-gloss teak finish, offering a more polished expression of the brand’s enduring connection to place.

Across five decades, Harbour has remained grounded in the same essential ideas: furniture made to endure, spaces designed for gathering and a belief that outdoor living should be as considered as any interior. In New York, surrounded by the design community that continues to shape its next chapter, Harbour’s anniversary became a celebration of legacy, momentum and the lasting pull of life lived outside.
