Aura

Aura is a retreat that feels unmistakably like home, balancing quiet moments of solitude with space for meaningful family connection. A calm counterpoint to the demands of fast-paced working life, it gives its occupants room to withdraw and unwind.

Embracing serene ocean, hinterland and garden vistas, Aura’s final form responds to its Burleigh Heads setting with a deep sense of immersion. With Reece Keil Design at the helm, the home is at once modern and organic, its expressive folds, sculptural volumes and open-air architecture dissolving the boundary between indoors and out.

“The design avoids unnecessary complexity, instead allowing clarity of space and movement to shape how the home is lived in.”

Aura departs from the usual Gold Coast residential typology. From the street, its identity is clear, resolved and assertive; yet, as you move along the elongated entry path, a sense of calm and comfort begins to unfold. The arrival is carefully choreographed, guiding you toward the central living space where a sunken lounge sits beneath a dramatic six-metre ceiling, confirming that scale and softness can are not mutually exclusive.

The eye is naturally drawn to the expansive alfresco entertaining space, enriching the dwelling’s key communal areas with natural light and airflow. “The design avoids unnecessary complexity, instead allowing clarity of space and movement to shape how the home is lived in,” explains Reece Keil. Its sweeping curves, concrete construction and custom render, now softened by cascading greenery, speak to a floor plan designed for emotional impact.

Aura’s material palette is deliberately restrained and tactile. Earthy tones anchor the home in its rich environment, while subtle variations in texture bring depth to the overall composition. Terracotta-inspired hues form a warm thread throughout, appearing in the handmade breezeblocks, grand Italian marble countertops, complementary blush subway tiles and tumbled aged brass fixtures.

At Aura, calm, warmth and layering are supported by a significant investment in wellness. Tucked behind privacy screens and cocooned by mature canopies are a home gym, magnesium spa, custom cold plunge and sauna. Here, the design brief extends the idea of R&R into both atmosphere and amenity, creating a home that feels restorative and well-attuned to coastal living.
