The opening of a new Boffi | De Padova showroom in Surry Hills represents the continued narrative of the historic brand. The latest design hub builds upon the success of the Darlinghurst iteration, capturing the Boffi | De Padova journey in an immersive interior display.

Since 1934, Boffi has been reinforcing the relationship between Italian craft, timeless presentation and intuitive functionality. Changes in social conventions, lifestyles and aesthetic sensibilities have been deftly navigated with contemporary technology applied to innovative product designs, and armed with an unwavering sense of self, Boffi grew internationally. In 2015, Boffi integrated with interiors company De Padova, establishing a smooth, internalised operation. High-end, integrated bathrooms, bedrooms, storage systems and kitchens combine with furniture and accessories to form the Boffi | De Padova offering, with each item nodding towards the immense growth of the brand as a champion of Italian craftmanship.

Taking inspiration from the Darlinghurst showroom, the Surry Hills space captures the Boffi | De Padova product line in a high-contrast visual environment.

Taking inspiration from the Darlinghurst showroom, the Surry Hills space captures the Boffi | De Padova product line in a high-contrast visual environment. A sharp black-and-white palette is pulled together using small injections of transitional colours – an earth-toned rug, grey cladding, timber cabinetry. Formed from efficient lighting and the purposeful configuration of products, the showroom experience enables visitors to immerse themselves in the details of the range and, in doing so, embrace the Boffi | De Padova narrative. The open-plan format echoes the Darlinghurst venue, establishing a sense of spatial flow that effortlessly guides visitors across the showroom floor. Externally, sections of glazing break up the slate-grey façade, offering a view into the warmly lit interior.

Developmentally, Boffi | De Padova can be tracked by its specific and timely collaborations, which consistently propel the brand forward. Throughout, architects Vico Magistretti, Luigi Massoni and Piero Lissoni have remained steady influences, directing the company’s new and exciting conceptual avenues. Their legacy has seen Boffi | De Padova welcome an influx of participating designers, all of whom have contributed valuable expertise underpinned by a personal creative background. With its most recent collections – including the collaborative work of Paul Smith, Patricia Urquiola and Elisa Ossino – Boffi | De Padova signals a new age. Whilst the perceptual qualities of individual pieces vary, the collections stay true to the brand’s signature holistic design offering, embracing the architectural and cohesive.

With its past and present embodied in the current product line, perhaps the intimate experience of the showroom floor can reveal what lies ahead for the ever-growing brand.
