The new Daniel Robertson 470 Collection from Brickworks embodies the union of modern proportion with time-honoured craft, designed to elevate projects with enduring beauty and sustainable performance.

To meet the needs of architects, designers and builders who continue to seek material integrity – while keeping an eye trained firmly on sustainability – Brickworks has launched the Daniel Robertson 470 Collection, a range of carbon-neutral, elongated bricks that extend the possibilities of proportion.

Named for its 470-millimetre length, the collection was developed in response to growing demand for strong, elongated horizontal lines and refined forms in brickwork. The longer format allows for fewer vertical joints and greater design flexibility – creating a distinct sense of rhythm on bold, modern facades – while retaining the handcrafted, rich textured finish that has been the hallmark of the Daniel Robertson brand for decades.

“With the 470 Collection, we’re giving architects and builders more choice and flexibility while staying true to the character, quality and sustainability that define our bricks,” says Brett Ward, Brickworks’ general manager of marketing. “It’s part of our ongoing commitment to support thoughtful design and provide materials that contribute to a more sustainable built environment.”

Handcrafted at Brickworks’ carbon-neutral Longford plant in Tasmania, the 470 Collection reflects a commitment to sustainable production, with a made-to-order model that reduces waste and supports bespoke project requirements. Each brick measures 470 millimetres by 110 millimetres by 50 millimetres, delivering contemporary aesthetics without compromising the artisan tactility for which the Daniel Robertson range is renowned.

With an exclusive 100-year warranty on colour and durability, the bricks embody the low-maintenance nature of clay products, requiring no paint or coatings to maintain their appearance over time. “Unlike many lightweight alternatives, the bricks offer lasting strength and resilience, helping ensure buildings retain their design appeal for generations,” says Ward.

Certified non-combustible under the National Construction Code, the 470 Collection bricks are suitable for bushfire zones, while their high thermal mass supports energy-efficient design, helping to moderate interior temperatures and reduce energy consumption. The range is available in the company’s signature Traditional and Hawthorn colourways, featuring hues such as Apricot, Black, Grey Blend, London and Red.
