Celebrating its unique heritage and neighbourhood context, Fitzroy House sees a 19th-century bootmaker’s factory building transformed into a timeless multi-residential structure.

Brought to life by property developers Piccolo alongside architects Jackson Clements Burrows Architects (JCB) and interior designers Hecker Guthrie, the project embodies the history and contemporary culture of its locale.

Its timeless façade effortlessly assimilates with the surrounding streetscape as the interior design seamlessly integrates with the exterior architecture.

Originally a dilapidated yet charming heritage building with a well-preserved façade, JCB designed the development with minimal intervention, allowing Fitzroy House to carefully unfold around the original building. Striking a careful balance between old and new, JCB delicately preserved the site while forging a place for it in the contemporary world. Its timeless façade effortlessly assimilates with the surrounding streetscape as the interior design seamlessly integrates with the exterior architecture.

Extending across seven levels, Fitzroy House redefines inner- city living with open plan living areas, high ceilings and generous kitchens. Premium materials such as odyssey marble tiles and European oak timber joinery create a sophisticated feel. Hecker Guthrie wanted the homes to be both discreetly luxurious and emulate Fitzroy’s polished grittiness, and the result is a set of apartments that are calm, simple and beautifully resolved.

Through quality craftsmanship, innovative design and seamless collaboration, Fitzroy House delivers an apartment building designed to both enhance its surrounds and enrich the lives of its inhabitants.
