King Living cements its reputation as one of the country’s leading furniture creators with double wins at this year’s Australian Good Design Awards.

Two of King Living’s stand-out products were awarded accolades at the 2024 Australian Good Design Awards, announced in Sydney in September. The Delta Coast sofa and Heritage Extension dining table won Gold in the furniture and lighting category of the prestigious awards. “We are honoured to be recognised for our dedication to creating exceptional design,” King Living founder David King said after the win. “Our team continually pushes the boundaries of what furniture can achieve and we are relentless in our pursuit of excellence.”

“The jury was impressed by the balance of comfort, functionality and practicality, particularly in how it transforms from a sofa to a guest bed.”

The Delta Coast, introduced earlier this year, is an extension of the brand’s best-selling Delta range, and possesses all the qualities that made the original such a stellar component of King Living’s collection – timeless design, durability and fine craftsmanship. Created with easy Australian living top of mind, the Delta Coast has a laidback aesthetic paired with a modular flexibility: with removable arms and backs, it’s ideal for spaces where adaptability is key. The three-seater sofa with chaise and chair module can be rearranged into 20 custom configurations, including a sofa bed.

That flexibility didn’t go unnoticed by the Good Design Awards judges, who were also impressed by the sofa’s elevated craftsmanship. “The jury was impressed by the balance of comfort, functionality and practicality, particularly in how it transforms from a sofa to a guest bed,” says King. “The range’s adaptability, ease of configuration and attention to repairability also exemplify high-quality craftsmanship.”

“The table’s design excels in functionality and ease of use, making it a valuable addition to both formal and casual dining settings.”

The Heritage Extension dining table also deeply enthralled the judges, particularly its “intuitive approach to extendable furniture”, says King. That’s achieved through the brand’s exclusive SoftTouch Extension Technology, which allows the table to effortlessly expand from accommodating six guests to 10 in a synchronised movement. “The design excels in functionality and ease of use, making it a valuable addition to both formal and casual dining settings.”

Technologically advanced as it is, the table also reflects King Living’s affinity for ageless design, its thick sculptural legs and durable steel frame supporting an impeccably crafted timber tabletop, ensuring its durability. The Heritage Extension is available in oval and rectangular iterations, and in four colourways – natural oak, smoked oak, onyx and American walnut.

The double win reflects King Living’s long-standing commitment to crafting impeccable furniture that stands the test of time, and comes on the back of four accolades in last year’s awards – for the 1977, Aura and Jasper Curve sofas and the Heirloom dining chair. “As we continue to innovate and lead in the world of furniture design, the brand remains committed to creating adaptable, sustainable and timeless furniture that shapes the future of living spaces both in Australia and beyond,” says King.
