In Partnership with ZETR

Consciously innovating to reflect how people use power, ZETR has launched their first moveable outlet series. The flush MOVE product is an ideal feature within collaborative projects, allowing architects, designers and craftspeople to enjoy creative freedom.

While traditional power outlets are exclusive to fixed wall surfaces, MOVE entails a more diverse usage. “MOVE presents a chance to rethink how you access power,” says Garth Elliott, Director and Lead Designer at ZETR. “Essentially, it’s an extension of our 13 flush product series – the same minimal power with an overall reduced footprint thanks to a compact mounting. It’s a product for designers and makers as it can be integrated within their custom pieces, ensuring the integrity of the designs they inhabit.” In presentation, MOVE surpasses typical protruding outlets, offering the same double-pole functionality in a seamless solution defined by the signature ZETR curve. In addition, metal faceplate accessories enable effortless customisation.

Bespoke furniture designer Tom Fereday recently integrated the sleek power outlet within custom large-format tables in the Art Gallery of New South Wales. A discreet addition that does not impact upon tablespace, MOVE allows users to charge their smartphones, tablets or laptops while seated. Each custom piece by Tom Fereday was made with locally sourced Australian spotted gum timbers and natural aniline leathers alongside waxed solid brass, representing a celebration of local makers across New South Wales. Furthermore, the use of MOVE reflects an understanding of the contemporary visitor and the value they place on their devices – by aiding the operation of such devices, MOVE contributes to a welcoming atmosphere.

Echoing the modern-day relevance of technology, MOVE can be recognised for the strong impact it has upon the opportunities available in any given space. In hotels, the outlet associates lobby chairs and restaurant tables with the digital realm, allowing guests to enjoy connectivity in comfort. When installed in bedheads, MOVE responds to the popular desire to charge devices overnight. At the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the outlet encourages moments of rest within the bustling venue. Whether it be in a retail, hospitality, public or commercial environment, MOVE enables the experience of safety and security that often results from having access to electrical power.

“With MOVE we can offer a really refined and integrated product solution,” says Garth. “This is something completely unprecedented in the double-pole outlet space.”
