Sage Space by Strutt Studios
Designed to transcend the conventional, mundane experience of attending a dentist practice, Sage Space by Strutt Studios transforms the necessary routine into a luxurious, comfortable and sensorial experience. The interior design was conceived from the idea of creating a supportive and calm environment that felt like partaking in self-care.
Strutt Studios, led by Merey McGuckin and Will Gallagher in this project, drew inspiration from the qualities of sage and its ability to engage and stimulate the senses. The details of the space are intentionally crafted to immerse visitors in a tranquil environment primed to emulate an oasis of comfort and sensory delight. This intent helps to alleviate any apprehensions and discomfort that come with attending dental appointments and to encourage an association of relaxation for regular patients.
Sage Space is characterised by eclectic and contrasting hues. Soft muted browns, buttery yellows and earthy hues foster a harmonious backdrop, while rich plum and terracotta decor invigorates the ambience by providing a dynamic visual juxtaposition. Alongside these tones, elements such as opulent fabrics, mood lighting and comforting textures contribute to a warm and welcoming atmosphere, ensuring that Sage Space is rich with pleasing touchpoints.
Strutt Studios embraced a curated fusion of beautiful materials to excite the senses. Cork, steel, terrazzo and solid rendered walls also encourage clients to feel nurtured throughout their visit. The addition of sweeping curves in joinery, walls and ceiling bulkheads is a deliberate design strategy aimed at fostering a sense of fluidity. This approach ensures that form seamlessly meets function, and every corner of the fit-out is both a visual delight and a testament to the thoughtful consideration of the overall Sage Space experience.
Strutt Studio’s design is antithetical to the notion of less is more. This thinking allows client visits to differ, depending on the mood evoked by the subtle yet cleverly curated design elements and details. The intentional variety between rooms – such as the serene ambience of the green room and the rich hues of the plum room – aims to create an ever-evolving journey to ensure that no two experiences are the same.
