A Cut Above – Sareen Stone
By supplying premium product to exquisite residential projects like Nine-Square Bondi, Cove House in Cronulla, Sydney, and Byron Bay’s House Burch, Sareen Stone proves why it is an industry leader in the world of natural stone.
For two decades, Sareen Stone has had one focus: sourcing high-quality natural stone from trusted suppliers around the world. “We meticulously select each stone and collaborate closely with quarries to ensure our products meet the highest standards of quality,” says Alison Jones, Marketing Manager at Sareen Stone. The result of that meticulous process? A unique and diverse collection of premium stone, each with its own distinctive characteristics, hues and patterns, such as the Cathedral, Santa Fe and Lavarosa Anticato limestones. These feature “unique finishes and edges and customisable options that you won’t find elsewhere,” says Alison.
A customer-centric philosophy is at the heart of Sareen Stone’s operations. “We understand the diverse needs of architects, interior designers, landscape architects and pool builders,” says Alison. “By working closely with these professionals – including names like Madeleine Blanchfield, Those Architects and Secret Gardens – we ensure our range not only meets but exceeds expectations.”
There’s no better way to see that in practice than in the myriad projects for which Sareen Stone has supplied its premium product, such as the home in Bellevue Hill, Sydney, that marries modernity with resort-style elegance. Luna Chiaro Alfresco Limestone was chosen for its soft, muted tones that extend from the pool surround to the entry. The Honed iteration graces the shower wall and bathroom floor, while customised Luna Chiaro Crazy Paving was utilised in the shower floor and at the entrance. “Luna Chiaro effortlessly transitions from interior to outdoor spaces, creating a consistent, elegant and welcoming environment,” says Alison.
For a home in Macmasters Beach on the NSW Central Coast, the Crema Vialle Limestone was chosen for its creamy elegance, soft undernotes and remarkable slip resistance. In its Alfresco version, the stone is ideal for outdoor spaces and pool surrounds. “Custom-made, 70-millimetre, drop-edge Crema Vialle pool coping ensures a perfect fit,” says Alison. “Its light appearance from a distance and intricate detailing up close made it a preferred choice for the client’s vision. This stone has contributed to the project’s neutral, fresh and beautiful feel, further enhanced by an MBA Award in the Concrete Pools category [in 2021].”
A striking home in Vaucluse, Sydney features Luna Chiaro Limestone and Clairvaux Stone Wall Cladding, which infuse sophistication and charm into both indoor and outdoor areas. “A notable aspect of this project is the customisation of the Clairvaux cladding,” says Alison. “Initially, it had a rectangular shape with straight edges, but we transformed it to create a more organic and tumbled look, and now it’s a standard product in our range.” The stone graces indoor and outdoor spaces, adorning retaining walls, columns and the fireplace, “inspiring a relaxed and charming atmosphere throughout the home.”
Sareen Stone also works on larger commercial projects, such as the Manly Pacific Sydney MGallery Collection, which has undergone a stunning transformation. The refreshed rooftop area boasts the Luna Chiaro Alfresco Limestone, while the Luna Chiaro Crazy Paving adorns the pool area. Cement White Porcelain Tiles on bathroom walls exude elegance, and the Charcoal Granite-Look Porcelain Tiles on the terraces ensure durability and resistance against the coastal elements. “Adding a final touch of sophistication and luxury, black and white glass mosaic tiles were selected for the pool,” says Alison. “Each stone, chosen for its distinctive characteristics, contributes to the overall aesthetic, creating a harmonious blend of style and durability.”
