At the forefront of worldwide lighting trends, Koda Lighting’s innovative approach to lighting design is exemplified in the range from premium designer lighting brand Vibia. Two highlights from the Vibia range include the Knit Collection, featuring a dynamic materiality that is simultaneously soft yet robust, and the Flamingo pendant, which embodies an ethereal and delicate sculptural presence.

Since 2004, Koda Lighting has specialised in an inspiring range of iconic lighting brands from Europe and North America. Working alongside architects, interior designers, renovators and homebuilders, Koda is passionate about elevating interiors through innovative and unique lighting design. Always at the forefront of trends and technology, the brand’s ever-growing catalogue of interior and exterior lighting can be explored at showrooms across Australia.

With its sea urchin shape and alluring texture, the Vibia Knit Collection is a reflection of the soothing ambience found in nature, effortlessly softening any interior.

With its sea urchin shape and alluring texture, the Vibia Knit Collection is a reflection of the soothing ambience found in nature, effortlessly softening any interior. The work of prolific German designer Meike Harde, Knit features a single knitted lycra sleeve stretched over a seemingly flattened sphere. The fabric is stitched into ribs using a technical knitting technique, allowing the diffused light to create an intimate glow, bringing a warm ambience to any space.

The highly evocative collection features five large pendants and four over-sized floor lamps, reimagining and modernising the traditional lampshade to reveal beautiful craftsmanship. Each lamp incorporates a seamless combination of fabric, diffuser and aluminium ring casing, resulting in a striking and textural silhouette. Lampshades feature raised ribs of beige fabric that taper off towards a cap that seals the top of the luminaire. This style allows for a unique interaction with light – the way the lamp plays with transparency and opacity offers an alluring warmth and earthiness.

Combining functionality with a considered aesthetic, the Flamingo harnesses the latest advancements in technology so that it can be easily modified to provide different sculptural forms and unique lighting effects.

Where the Knit collection is strikingly textural, the Flamingo pendant is an adaptable design by Antoni Arola for Vibia that is slender and refined. Combining functionality with a considered aesthetic, the Flamingo harnesses the latest advancements in technology so that it can be easily modified to provide different sculptural forms and unique lighting effects. Featuring conical shades and fine metal wires, the pendant emits an indirect ambient light. The result is an effect that is calming, inviting and alluring – a subtle way to provide a desired atmosphere to any space, as seen in two elegant projects by Robson Rak, Batavia and Brighton Homestead.

Whilst the Knit collection invites soft ambience and texture, proving that subtlety can also be the foundation of a statement piece, the Flamingo pendant exudes both elegance and comfort with its nuanced simplicity. Capturing the poetic potential of light to create mood and atmosphere, the diverse Vibia range exemplifies the versatility and innovative intent behind Koda Lighting.
