Developed by the award-winning design team at Phoenix, the Cromford collection integrates historic detailing with contemporary silhouettes. Comprised of tapware, mixers, showers and accessories, the range enables cohesion across the bathroom and kitchen whilst complementing a variety of decorative styles.

In form, the Cromford collection champions the contours that are familiar and favoured in modern-day design. The aesthetic signature of the range emerges from the combination of such bold profiles with material complexity, relating back to a specific historical inspiration. “The range was inspired by an old plumbing catalogue I found dating back to the late 1800s,” explains Alexander Tomlinson, Design Engineer at Phoenix. “It was filled with hand-drawn sketches of cast iron valves and pipe fittings that featured decorative details. Combining that exquisite fine detailing with precise, uninterrupted geometric forms brought about a unique design language for the range.” The industrial concept of the collection is highlighted and celebrated from the outset, with the title of the range paying homage to the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution in Great Britain.

Crafted by an Australian in-house team, the Cromford collection forms an intuitive complement to the quintessentially Australian interior. The understated elegance of the range – emphasised by finish options Chrome, Brushed Nickel, Matte Black and Brushed Gold – echoes the spirit of the modern farmhouse design style, wherein raw matter is subtly refined. In contrast to alternative fittings, the pieces of the Cromford collection are SwitchMix® compatible, allowing customers to effortlessly select a new design or finish for their space. All changes are made front-of-wall, ensuring that interiors can be reimagined without tiles being removed or water-proofing damaged.

In addition, the Cromford collection pioneers the Phoenix drive towards lead-free tapware. New regulations in Australia determine that all products intended for use as an outlet for drinking water – namely tapware and mixers – will transition to lead-free brass content by May 2026. Recognising the value of public health and its responsibility towards the wider community, Phoenix ensures that its latest collection of mixers and wall top assemblies conforms with the lead-free regulation.

Whilst embodying the continued relevance of historic craftmanship, the Cromford collection honours the work of the past and serves as a compelling example of present-day innovation. This ingenuity in design has been recently rewarded with a 2023 international iF design award. For those looking to specify this award-winning collection in their construction projects, Phoenix confirms that stock is held in the Melbourne warehouse for short lead time dispatch.
